Job Outline

Siemens is a technology provider for industry, hospitals, utilities, cities and manufacturers that now ranks among the top-10 global software companies. The Executive Speechwriter works within the U.S. Corporate Communications Public Affairs team to help connect Siemens' work to the national conversation. The Public Affairs team promotes Siemens' digital capabilities, its innovation agenda, its economic contribution in the company's largest market, and particularly its commitment to solving the world's greatest challenges.

In this position, you will write for the U.S. executive leadership team, including the U.S. CEO and other key leaders. You will report to the Director of U.S. Speechwriting, while also collaborating with colleagues in Corporate Communications and throughout the company.


  • Develops executive speeches, talking points, panel remarks, video scripts and presentations in support of the U.S. agenda and targeted business objectives

  • Collaborates with colleagues to develop a variety of written communications and messaging for the U.S. executive leadership team and other key leaders. These include blog and social media posts, opinion pieces and articles, Q&As, internal broadcast emails, nominations for corporate recognition, and message frameworks and storylines to guide broader company campaigns.

  • Provides research, copy editing and fact checking for various projects

  • Performs research and monitoring to obtain knowledge of relevant national policy, news and cultural topics, and government affairs issues related to Siemens' business to proactively identify emerging issues and help in the development of communication strategies, messaging and speeches.

  • Simultaneously manages long- and short-term deadlines in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, enabling Public Affairs to react quickly to new cycles and emerging opportunities

  • Simplifies and clarifies complex legal, legislative, regulatory and statistical information using clear and concise language.

  • Regularly engages with global and country counterparts to collaborate on communications activities, including the U.S. Market Communications team.



  • 5 - 8+ years of relevant experience in speechwriting and development of executive communications content and messaging.

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Political Science or related field required; Advanced degree

  • Additional language skills helpful but not required

  • Ability to travel 10 to 15% (mostly domestic)


  • Capability in researching and preparing speeches, messaging and other executive communications materials.

  • Demonstrated expertise in speechwriting and executive communications.

  • Basic understanding of Siemens core businesses.

  • Experience in the translation of complex information into speeches and or remarks targeted toward specific audiences.

  • The ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Capacity to set priorities and meet deadlines, and ability to multi-task.

  • Proficiency in multi and social media.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated success working with senior executives and ability to develop relationships at all levels of an organization and across functions.

  • Strong research capabilities.

Requirements * Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related discipline and 10+ years of magazine, newspaper, and digital experience, including 8+ years of media management experience. * Excellent news judgment. * Excellent knowledge of AARP and issues of greatest importance to the organization and its membership. * Strong background in journalism -- writing, editing, verbal, analytical, project management, and presentation skills -- and a proven record of developing stories and storytelling. * Exceptional attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multi-task, while driving results. * Ability to work with minimal supervision while contributing to the organization's goals and objectives.
