The Position
Bargaining Unit: Management - Mgmt. Classes, Classified & Exempt
The Public Works Department provides projects, programs, and service to the public and is a customer service organization that supports County Departments in fulfilling their public service missions. The position is part of the Administrative Services Division which includes the executive management team, personnel/payroll, receptions, contracts, records, public information, training, and the energy program.
The position supports the Public Works Director and executive management team. The incumbent will be the liaison with Board of Supervisors' Offices, County Department Heads, staff, and the public.
We are looking for someone who is:
Customer service oriented. You will work with Public Works staff, County staff, and the public. Customer service skills and responsiveness are a priority for this position
Detail oriented. You will be responsible for providing accurate information, both written and verbal
System experienced. Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite
Analytical. Summarize information and develop recommendations
Flexible. Priorities may change quickly
Organized. Balance multiple assignments and deadlines
What you will typically be responsible for:
Coordinate and schedule various meetings, agendas, and take minutes
Provide lead direction and training on the department's customer service tracking system
Receive and respond to concerns from the public and County departments
Disseminate communication department-wide
Handle sensitive and confidential information
De-escalation of difficult situations
Draft correspondence and take meeting minutes
Receive, track, and respond to requests for service

This classification is EXEMPT from the merit system and is not subject to the guidelines set forth in the Personnel Management Regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Possession of a high school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency, or a high school proficiency certificate.
Experience: Three (3) years of full-time (or the equivalent of full-time) increasingly responsible secretarial or clerical experience.
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience acting as a liaison with executives and/or Board of Supervisors' Offices
Handling confidential information and understanding what to disseminate
Providing training on various software programs
Experience in Microsoft Office Suite

CONVICTION HISTORY
After you receive a conditional job offer, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). DISASTER SERVICE WORKER
All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
