We're looking for a strong leader who can inspire a group of writers and editors to create their best work. While Thrillist.com continues to be the anchor of the brand, we are dedicated to being everywhere our audience is, so a keen understanding of all social media platforms, and how today's readers find information, is key to the role. As a senior member of the Thrillist team, you will also have a voice in all expressions of the brand, including events, video, podcasts and more.
Working with the Chief Content Officer, establish the overall voice and editorial of Thrillist written
Manage the work of all Thrillist written verticals: Food & Drink, Travel & Local, Entertainment
Establish output and traffic goals and work with the vertical editors to meet or exceed them. Use data insights and analytics to understand our audience, and inform the way curate and edit stories
Organize and maintain weekly, monthly, and annual editorial calendars and ensure deadlines are being met
Conceive of and oversee editorial initiatives that break through the clutter of an ever-growing media landscape and make Thrillist famous
Be a regular, active partner with Thrillist's distribution, video, and design teams to ensure every story is supported visually and promoted effectively
10+ years of editorial experience in digital media, including at least 5 years of experience as an editor
Proven experience leading a large editorial team
A skilled writer and editor
Well organized, with experience managing content calendars
Strong social media presence
Deep understanding of how content is consumed and distributed online and via social and search platforms, with a particular emphasis on SEO
Good communicator both to members of your own team, to representatives of other departments, and members of the outside media world
