Key Responsibilities

  • Serves as the principal strategist who advises, consults, plans and directs the design and strategy of new business opportunities (RFPs) and/or provide consultative services to customers developing therapeutics to treat Rare Diseases, Pediatrics and Orphan Products team.
  • Leads and/or partners with Business Development and Operations for planning of bid defense meetings or capabilities meetings
  • Supports medical writing team in the development of protocol design as well as CSR review and input as needed
  • Develops and fosters relationship with existing and potential clients both in conjunction with Business Development and individually
  • Develops and fosters the TFS site relationships and networks aligned with therapeutic area as appropriate
  • Assists with feasibility assessments and provides input for feasibility assessments including questionnaires and may also directly connect with potential sites for assessment of participation, protocol considerations and enrolment projection
  • Maintains strong knowledge of major events and challenges in Rare Diseases, Pediatrics and Orphan Products therapeutic development and provides instruction to team members and managers on those issues as well as training for the respective area of focus.
  • Assumes overall responsibility for scientific and strategic aspects of all assigned TFS HealthScience managed clinical trials


  • Minimum of ten years experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry in a project management, clinical research, data management, statistics or regulatory affairs capacity
  • Experience in designing and/or managing clinical trials in Rare Diseases
  • Experience in public speaking and able to represent TFS Research at conferences/round tables/symposiums
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory, scientific, technical and clinical expertise in conduct of clinical trials in Rare Diseases, Pediatrics and Orphan Products as demonstrated by past positions related to the therapeutic area in the CRO and Pharma/Biotech sector
  • Has a consultative communication and collaboration approach to the implementation of the project plan with the team and the customer
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal)

VIEW JOBS 9/7/2022 12:00:00 AM 2022-12-06T00:00 <p>Occupational Summary</p><p>The Executive Director provides leadership and visibility to the University and Health System efforts to ensure an accessible, hospitable working and learning environment for people with disabilities; coordinates and oversees the implementation of programs and procedures that brings the University and Health System into full compliance with federal and state regulations; and ensures continued compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADAAA), 2020 DOJ Regulations, 2011 EEOC Regulations, EEOC Settlement Letters, current and continuing DOJ Settlement Agreement requirements, OCR Resolutions and mediated agreements with students, employees, and visitors.</p><p>Work Performed</p><ul><li><p>Develop a program of educational activities designed to increase awareness and develop competency in managing disability issues that affect students, faculty, staff and visitors to the University and its affiliates.</p></li><li><p>Ensure standard practices and procedures for responding to request for accommodations and for the resolution of related disputes.</p></li><li><p>Identify, guide and support individuals across the University who have functional responsibility for operations that impact our compliance responsibilities under Sec. 504 and the ADA.</p></li><li><p>Facilitate prompt and appropriate responses to requests for accommodation by collecting and maintaining current information on adaptive technologies, personal assistance, and organizations that provide assistance or support.</p></li><li><p>Develop and disseminate informational materials on case law and government agency rulings and interpretations, as well as on University programs and services.</p></li><li><p>Provide limited direct assistance to individuals with disabilities when normal Duke channels are temporarily unavailable.</p></li><li><p>Maintain a record-keeping/documentation system for all disability complaints and requests for accommodation.</p></li><li><p>Ensure effective and timely assessment of University and Health System Facilities with regard to new construction, renovation and barrier removal.</p></li></ul><p>Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.</p><p>The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this classification.
