The Montana Public Employee Retirement Administration (MPERA) is committed to providing secure and sustainable retirement benefits to nearly 60,000 members and retirees. The agency administers nine retirement plans and is dedicated to customer service, member education, and operational efficiency. These plans include the Public Employees'; Judges'; Highway Patrol Officers'; Sheriffs'; Game Wardens' and Peace Officers'; Municipal Police Officers'; Firefighters'; the Volunteer Firefighters' Compensation Act, as well as the State's Deferred Compensation Plan.
The Executive Director of the Montana Public Employees Retirement Administration serves as executive staff to the Public Employees' Retirement Board and provides leadership to an organization of more than 50 individuals. Responsibilities of the position include holding direct staff accountable for the development and delivery of effective services, programs, and business processes; developing strong working partnerships and communicating effectively with key stakeholders; overseeing the development and administration of all agency programs, strategies, and standards to ensure achievement of Board and legislative priorities and agency mission.
This position reports to the Public Employees' Retirement Board.
An initial candidate review will take place on April 29, 2024.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, finance, economics, accounting, management, or a related field.
Five years progressively responsible experience managing public retirement or similar benefit/financial programs; senior leadership experience in a public pension fund strongly preferred, with strong knowledge of government budget development.
Experience reporting to and working with a board of trustees.
