What you'll be doing

The Executive Director, Sales (West) will be tasked with recruiting, developing, and leading a patient focused team of Regional Business Directors and Oncology Account Managers for the Nuvation Bio's inaugural sales team, formed in anticipation of the launch of our first commercial product, taletrectinib, a ROS1 inhibitor. This critical role will be responsible cross-functionally collaboration with in-office and field-based teams in Marketing, Market Access, Medical Affairs, and Data & Analytics to drive a successful launch, including providing expertise and input in developing the overall strategy and successful execution of key field strategies and tactics. This role reports to the Vice President, U.S. Sales and will be based in/near a major city.

You will be responsible for…

  • Hire, develop, and manage a high-performing oncology sales team (Regional Business Director and Oncology Account) to meet the evolving needs of customers and drive business results.

  • Direct the development and execution of a customer engagement plan that aligns with taletrectinib launch strategies and tactics.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with in-office teams, Marketing, Data & Analytics, Medical Affairs, Market Access, and field management to maximize brand adoption and growth within key accounts, including the successful execution of promotional activities.

  • Participate in enterprise strategic planning and sales forecasting. Provide regular market updates, trends, competitive activity, and conditions to Nuvation Bio leadership.

  • Maintain a strong clinical acumen and understanding of payer mix, reimbursement environment, and distribution to lead a targeted strategy in the assigned area.

  • Leverage innovative technologies (i.e., Omnichannel) to build strategies and tactics to broaden delivery product messaging to the customer.

  • Plan and oversee regional operating budgets, while actively monitoring expenses as part of overall P/L management.

  • Ensure all sales activities are conducted with the highest degree of ethics, meeting all legal requirements and standards, starting with a mindset of 'doing the right thing.' Work with legal, regulatory, and senior leadership to address ambiguous situations, leading to decisions that balance innovation and risk management.

What Knowledge & Experience you'll bring to us...

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Biological Sciences, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum 15 years of pharmaceutical sales experience with demonstrated success in product launches and building high-performance sales teams.

  • Experience that includes proven leadership, mentorship and coaching of field Regional Business Directors.

  • Minimum 10 years oncology experience, solid tumors, oral oncolytic and rare disease preferred. Non-small cell lung cancer experience highly preferred.

  • Prior in-house and field management rotational experience in Marketing, Sales Operations, Training, and/or Market Access preferred.

  • Demonstrated success launching new products in a small to mid-size biotech company, reflecting an entrepreneurial culture and innovative mindset.

  • Capable of representing commercial and sales functions on site at Nuvation Bio corporate offices (SF & NYC).

  • Passion for patient population and deep desire to have a meaningful impact on patient lives.

  • Strong organizational skills to maintain a high level of productivity, innovation, and priority-setting to deliver on organizational goals.

  • Proven ability to think strategically and work with a high level of integrity.

  • Establish and maintain strong clinical acumen to facilitate rapport with KOLs, community HCPs and effectively coach/mentor the sales team.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% domestic with occasional travel to Nuvation Bio's corporate office in New York, NY and San Francisco, CA.

  • A requirement of the position is to meet credentialing requirements for access to academic institutions, medical facilities, and organizations. These credentialing requirements may include, but are not limited to, background checks, drug screens, and proof of immunization and/or vaccinations. Failure to meet all requirements may prevent an employee from performing all essential job responsibilities.

The pay range for this position is $300,000 to $330,000 per year, which may factor in various geographic regions. The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location among other factors. Our full-time regular positions also include an annual performance-based bonus and long-term incentive units (equity) provided as part of our compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, depending on the level and position offered.
