SCOPE OF POSITION: Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates the Hospital based Cardiovascular Services of Waterbury Hospital#s main campus and where applicable off campus locations. Responsible for all communications to managers, physicians and community agencies, that interacts with these areas. Ensures that service line demonstrates a high quality, cost efficient program and growth in order to position the hospital as leaders in Cardiovascular services in the area. Recognizes specific criteria and special needs of the populations served.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Plan organize and direct daily operations of interventional, surgical and diagnostic areas to include the following services: Invasive Cardiology # Interventional, Electrophysiology, and structural cardiology. Non-Invasive Cardiology- WH Main Campus, Cardiac Diagnostic Outpatient Center, Cardiac Rehab, and Cardiac Cath Lab; and Surgical cardiology. Clinical cardiology # CAGW,Congestive Heart failure Clinic, Valve and TAVR clinic. Demonstrate effective leadership by developing and defining and monitoring strategic goals for responsible areas. Develop and manage department specific budgets in a fiscally responsible manner. Develop and enhance operating efficiency and cost effectiveness. Promotes a positive patient experience in all areas including monitoring patient experience data, identifying areas of improvement and promoting a culture of service excellence. Able to develop strategic plans for areas of responsibility, utilizing planning, leadership and a commitment to ensuring the delivery of the highest level of quality healthcare to consumers. Work collaboratively with the physician who deliver and refer to the services in order to identify opportunities for improvement and/or business development. Responsible for communication and collaboration with department specific leaders and physicians as well as community agencies interacting with these diagnostic areas to continuously improve services. Recognize age specific criteria and needs of the population. Understands the competitive environment of the areas of responsibility and develops and implements business plans and proformas for service line growth based on new programs, research, and new technology. Manage operational performance to meet or exceed budgeted expense goals and achieve business objectives. Promote employee engagement at all levels of the organization. Demonstrate ability to manage interdependent group process in order to develop new opportunities and solve operational problems. Provides mentorship and guidance to employees within span of control Performs all other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS:


Bachelor#s in Nursing from an accredited school or a health care related field with minimum three years experience in progressively responsible management role. Master#s degree in business or Health related field. Minimum 3-5 years of health care management experience within Cardiac Services. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience in a union environment preferred. Demonstrated leadership ability. Registration and current RN license in State of Connecticut.
