What You Need To Know

  • Actively participate in and provide leadership for the community and its staff. Supervise directly/indirectly all staff in the community.

  • Direct the management team to ensure the success of the Community including accountability for all areas of operations meeting all financial and budgetary objectives.

  • Participate and be accountable for oversight of all marketing and sales activities and results.

  • Operate the Community in accordance with the Company's policies and procedures and ensure the safety and security of residents and staff.

  • Responsibility for overall sales/occupancy results.

  • Understand and have the ability to influence sales culture.

  • Hold sales teams accountable to utilization of sales systems and standards.

  • Lead and contribute to sales, marketing and business development strategy.

What We Are Looking For

  • Three or more years of experience in a leadership capacity in the senior living industry

Even Better

  • The technical knowledge required is best obtained through a BS or MS degree in business, health care, hotel/restaurant management, or a closely related area.

  • A background in financial management, including budget preparation, cash flow management, and analysis of financial reports.

  • Ability to work effectively and diplomatically with a variety of publics, including residents, ownership groups, community groups, government agencies.

With 35 schools in operation, KCPS serves ~15,000 + students who collectively speak more than 50 languages and qualify for free/reduced meals at a rate of 100%. The stakes are incredibly high and KCPS realizes it must approach its work in a way that is unencumbered by excuses but instead pushes towards a reality where ALL students (regardless of background or socio-economic status) benefit from a best-in-class education. At the helm of its work is Superintendent, Dr. Mark Bedell, who has pledged to ensure students are at the center of every decision made. Dr. Bedell envisions KCPS schools as inviting resource hubs that showcase student work and welcome families. He's building a team to help bring his vision to fruition. ABOUT THE POSITION: Reporting to the Superintendent, the Executive Director, Research and Accountability will oversee the research, performance measurement, and reporting practices for all areas of the District. Through keen, data-driven decision making practices, this person (and the team beneath him/her) will help shape critical decisions related to administrative and instructional programs at the district, department, and school-based level. Among the many high-stakes initiatives on this person's plate, the Executive Director will oversee student assessment practices, ensuring the District remains in compliance with board, state, and federal policies and that student learning measures are incorporated into the District's educator effectiveness model. The Executive Director will also play a critical role in ensuring fiscal solvency across the district by establishing checks and balances for District grants, contracts, and supplemental funding. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Strategic Planning & Research * Supervise the development of goals and help shape short and long-range plans across key areas (e.g., student assessment, grant development, etc.) * Bring forth fair and impartial evaluations of key KCPS program initiatives as a means of informing the Superintendent, Board, and community as to the effectiveness of KCPS programming and make recommendations for improvement * Review all research requests from internal and external applicants Student Assessment * Direct the coordination of state assessment administrations * Direct the analysis of assessment data from national, state, and district assessments and prepare the data for presentation to the Superintendent and broader public * participate in monitoring all state accountability systems as it relates to student achievement data * Ensure student learning measures are leveraged in a systematic and comprehensive manner within KCPS' educator effectiveness efforts Accountability & Compliance * Coordinate information to ensure state and federal compliance regarding student data District-wide * Contribute to the successful achievement of full school KCPS accreditation * Analyze and interpret the process of budget development, implementation, and reporting according to approved District guidelines state statute * Participate in district-wide projections and redistricting/rezoning efforts as necessary * Monitor compliance with grants CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS: The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: * Advanced degree in statistical analysis or comparable discipline * Three or more years of progressive executive leadership experience with a track record of successfully leading research/accountability systems within complex settings (preferably within a school/district or analogous environment) * Track record of developing performance and outcome tracking metrics, including formative and summative assessments (within K12 education or an applicable setting) * Understands the challenges that come with creating, implementing, and improving processes within a complex setting and has a willingness/excitement to take on those challenges * Systems-level thinker; can translate ideas into delivery at a broad scale * Demonstrated ability to lead the design, implementation, and management of large-scale initiatives (i.e., adept at managing multiple work streams/teams) * Ability to manage people towards goals/outcomes and coach/develop strength in others * Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship building skills * Deep commitment to closing student achievement gaps between racial, ethnic, and economic groups * Culturally competent; ability to work well with a diverse array of stakeholders and work effectively across lines of difference.
