Job Description

The Executive Director, Global Medical Platform Lead- Bone oversees the Global Medical Affairs strategies for Amgen's Bone marketed products. Drives development and execution of medical strategies to maximize Amgen's value proposition in alignment with product and franchise strategies. This role will oversee the Bone Therapeutic Area (TA) platform and supervise a team including a Global Medical Affairs Leads (GMAL) and two Global Medical Directors. The GMAL will partner with (a) global product team in creation and execution of global product strategy and (b) regional medical product leads in development and implementation of medical strategies that are integrated with regional product strategy. This role also will partner with cross-functional leadership responsible for advancing Amgen's molecules and oversee strategies for evidence generation, scientific communication, and external engagement.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development of global medical strategies for marketed products in the Bone platform in partnership with cross-functional leaders in Global Development, Commercial, and other stakeholders

  • Managing, directing, and mentoring product leads to ensure effective external stakeholder management, communication (e.g., clinical narrative framework, scientific platform, core content, congresses, and publications), evidence generation, medical education, and medical insights

  • Recruiting, building, developing and mentoring the Bone Medical Affairs team

  • Providing medical strategic perspectives to key commercialization forums for Bone products as well as input into strategies for ensuring access to innovative Bone products globally

  • Overseeing resources and budget allocation necessary to deliver on Medical Affairs capabilities

  • Continuing to enhance Amgen's reputation as a science-based, patient-focused partner

Basic Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school AND
  • 5 years of clinical research experience and/or basic science research combined with clinical teaching and patient care activities AND
  • Regional, Local and/or Global HQ experience working for major multinational in matrix organization with demonstrated impact in medical and scientific affairs leadership role

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MD plus accredited fellowship in Endocrinology, Rheumatology or related medical discipline, board certified, or board eligible

  • Extensive experience in the Bone therapeutic area

  • 10+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry (biotech, pharmaceutical, or CRO), including Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, or Clinical Study Management

  • 5+ years of Medical Affairs leadership experience, including collaborations with national health care systems, integrated delivery networks, accountable care organizations, and/or payers

  • Extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical product development, product lifecycle, and commercialization processes, including but not limited to, clinical operations, commercial, regulatory affairs, drug safety, and medical affairs

  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and global regulations and guidelines

  • Experience in a product launch environment

  • Finance, budgeting, and resource management experience

  • History of solving problems while exhibiting superior judgment and a balanced, realistic understanding of issues

Responsibilities: * Lead execution of marketing tactics, ensuring creative excellence and integration with overall consumer marketing strategy and existing campaigns. * Implement test and learns to support marketing innovation. * Support the development of brand presence in digital and social channels that enhances consumer engagement and loyalty. * Work with social agency to monitor brand presence and appropriate real-time responses and to escalate issues when appropriate. * Facilitate all approval and reporting processes to ensure compliance. * Drive tracking of all digital KPIs and budget, recommending optimization where needed. * Leadership of agencies to hold them accountable to the highest standards of performance. * Lead Medical, Legal, Regulatory approval and print/digital production of assets.
