Job Type: Career Department Name: 4045-DEVELOPMENT Department Website URL: www.developmentcareers.ucla.edu Job Summary Statement: Reporting jointly to the Sr. Executive Director of Corporate, Foundation, and Research Relations and the Associate Vice Chancellors of Development, the Executive Director, Corporate, Foundation and Interdisciplinary Philanthropy will be responsible for working on fundraising initiatives that cross boundaries and disciplines campus-wide. As a member of the Senior development team, the Executive Director will provide leadership, oversight and strategic direction to professional development staff in Corporate, Foundation and Research Relations as well working closely with the Associate Vice Chancellor on special philanthropic priorities for the Chancellor, including the Grand Challenges. The Executive Director will work on complex campus wide interdisciplinary principal gift funded projects; play a lead role in navigating complex gift agreements; work independently and with colleagues across development and External Affairs, faculty and volunteers to develop vision documents, strategies, and proposals for major and principal gift solicitations to support UCLA's fundraising priorities. Percentage of Time: 100 Shift Start: 8:00 am Shift End: 5:00 pm Qualifications for Position

1.Strong working knowledge of the principles and practices of fundraising and at least seven to ten years of increasingly responsible experience preferably in a development environment, within a major research university or institution of equivalent complexity.

2.Demonstrated experienced managing a comprehensive and complex advancement program emphasizing principal gift, major gift and/or corporate and foundation giving or prior experience managing solicitations similar in nature, level and complexity in a nonprofit, industry relations capacity or related environment focused on interdisciplinary approaches.

3.Strong understanding of funding frameworks for private foundations with a demonstrated ability to conceptualize and implement appropriate, individualized strategies for the cultivation and solicitation of individual, corporate and foundation prospects.

4.Demonstrated experience in soliciting high-level gifts and/or other solicitations of a similar nature, level and complexity.

5.Management and administrative skills to organize, direct, motivate and evaluate professional staff and volunteers.

6.Demonstrated experience with budget preparation and resource management.

7.Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and implement marketing, communications, and operations support services including the ability to envision and articulate future direction.

8.Outstanding organizational skills and ability to exercise initiative, work proactively, and accept responsibility.

9.Ability to navigate and thrive in a complex and dynamic environment, managing conflicting priorities and coordinating multiple tasks.

10.Advanced written communication skills to communicate campus priorities and concerns by letter and proposal. Exceptional oral and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen, to build and maintain effective partnerships at all organizational levels and with outside constituencies.
