General Responsibilities

As Executive Director, you are responsible for directing the day to day functions of the community and ensure compliance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern assisted living facilities assuring the highest degree of quality care in a safe and secure environment is provided to our residents at all times.

Essential Duties

  • Assumes the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability of directing the activities and programs of the community.

  • Holds monthly communication meetings with employees and residents.

  • Represents the community in dealings with outside agencies, including governmental agencies, or provides an authorized representative of the community when unable to attend such meetings.

  • Makes written and oral reports/recommendations to the President/CEO concerning the operation of the community.

  • Makes routine inspections of the community to assure that established policies and procedures are being implemented and followed.

  • Maintains an adequate liaison with families and residents.

Basic Qualifications

Education/Training: A degree in public health administration, business administration or a health related degree is preferred. Current unencumbered administrator license or certification to manage a PCH community required.

Experience: Minimum of five years successful experience in assisted living management or comparable health care institution required. Must possess knowledge of reimbursement regulations and nursing practices and procedures as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to health care administration.

Working Conditions

Moves intermittently during working hours and subject to frequent interruptions.May be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel and visitors and must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

Physical and Sensory Requirements(with or without the aid of mechanical devices)

Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity and ability to work effectively with residents, personnel and support agencies. Position requires proficient interpersonal and communication skills; excellent reading, writing and grammar skills; auditory and visual skills; ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, lift, reach, and push or pull a minimum of 50 pounds.

Registered Nurse licensed by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing in accordance with N.J.S.A. 45:11-23 et seq. and N.J.A.C 13:37.</p></li><li><p>Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation insured in accordance with New Jersey state requirements.</p></li><li><p>Possesses satisfactory references from employers and/or professional peers.</p></li><li><p>Passes satisfactory criminal background check</p></li></ul><p>Responsibilities:</p><ul><li><p>Seek and obtain sufficient information necessary to function effectively in the Hospice setting where the patient/family/caregiver is receiving care.</p></li><li><p>Conduct initial assessment, including physical, emotional and psychosocial aspects of patient/family/caregiver in a thorough, accurate, compassionate and timely fashion.</p></li><li><p>Utilize the nursing body of knowledge to provide leadership and guidance to the IDT in formulating and individualizing the interdisciplinary plan of care to include problem identification and interventions and goals for addressing palliative comfort measures for the terminally ill patient, family and caregiver.</p></li><li><p>Contribute to identifying both active and potential needs of the patient and his/her family which may affect the plan of care.</p></li><li><p>Consistently collaborates with the physician to plan and implement the medical and nursing plan of care.</p></li><li><p>Review the nursing component of the comprehensive interdisciplinary plan of care with the IDT. Communicates in writing in the clinical record and verbally with the IDT to coordinate interventions and ensure continuity of care.</p></li><li><p>Facilitate and participates in the IDT care conference, contributing to patient care planning.</p></li><li><p>Provide nursing interventions and appropriate preventative and therapeutic nursing procedures.</p></li><li><p>Administer medications in accordance with all Federal and State laws and rules.</p></li><li><p>Collaborate with IDT members to provide continuous assessment of assigned patients, interprets findings, initiates appropriate therapeutic actions, and evaluates the results of these actions.</p></li><li><p>Accept responsibility of assignment to perform a specialized procedure only when qualified with specialty training, proven competency, clinical background and expertise in the specialty area.</p></li><li><p>Work in cooperation with family/caregiver and IDT members to meet the physical and emotional needs of the patient/family/caregiver.</p></li><li><p>Provide appropriate information and explanation to the patient and patient’s family. </p></li><li><p>Facilitate patient and family education to promote continuity of care and optimal patient/family outcomes for quality of life as defined by the patient/family/caregiver.</p></li><li><p>Demonstrate expertise in the utilization of all IDT members including volunteers and community resources.</p></li><li><p>Fulfill productivity requirements on an average daily census basis as determined by acuity level and Administrator or Director of Clinical Services.</p></li><li><p>Document accurate, complete and relevant clinical notes regarding the patient's condition and care provided.
