The Executive Department is looking for flexible, organized, committed team players with a sense of humor to join our department. Applicants should be interested in both administrative and creative functions.



Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and execute executive department administrative and special projects.
  • Project coordination: maintaining deadlines, getting price quotes, creating priorities, assisting in the implementation of daily tasks, assisting with administrative projects.
  • Administrative duties: assisting Bookkeeper and Executive Administrator with accounting functions, organizational filing, researching grants and sponsorship opportunities, assisting Executive Administrator during the Festival.
  • Ongoing: Researching and creating systems and structures that help support the Executive Director and Executive Assistant.

Job Requirements:
Seeking motivated individual with self-management characteristics and excellent organizational skills. Must possess the ability to multi-task and have good communication skills. Process-oriented problem-solver. Events & marketing experience preferred, but not required. Proficiency in Microsoft office, as well as administrative experience, preferred.

VIEW JOBS 12/1/2019 9:13:51 PM 2020-02-29T21:13 <p>Austin Film Festival’s Script Competitions are one of the most highly respected writing contests of its kind.  Past entrants have found success with signing with agents and managers, getting their scripts optioned and produced, and being staffed in TV writers’ rooms.  The competition received 9,460 entries in 2017.  Due to the high volume of submissions, the Screenplay Competition Department operates year-round and needs a team of highly skilled and trustworthy interns to maintain AFF’s high standard of quality.  On average, 8-10 interns will be recruited each session (Spring, Summer, and Fall).  Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible.</p> <p><strong>GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Entrants for the current year’s Script Competitions are not eligible to be considered</li> <li>Proficiently with Microsoft Office programs specifically Excel and Word</li> <li>Must be detail oriented and organized</li> <li>Experience with writing and reading scripts highly preferred but not required</li> <li>Marketing experience preferred</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Fall Applicants (August – December)</strong></p> <p>Primary tasks include but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>In order to be considered, Fall interns MUST be available all day on Saturday, October 27th plus one entire additional day of the Conference (Wednesday October 24 – Sunday October 28) to assist in the production of the Austin Film Festival</li> <li>Responsible for managing rooms/department registration tables at the Festival & Conference – must display courtesy and professionalism to all attendees, panelists, and press</li> <li>Researching production companies to help promote Semifinalists, Finalists, and Winners of the competition</li> <li>Helping with coordinating and assembling the annual Producers Book which contains a listing of all Semifinalists, Finalists, and Winners from the competition</li> <li>Reviewing and copyediting competition readers’ notes</li> <li>Preparing for Festival and Conference in October—planning and coordinating special panels and events for top writers in the competition</li> <li>Assisting with the annual Pitch Competition during the Conference</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Spring Applicants (January – May)</strong></p> <p>Primary tasks include but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Promoting and marketing the Screenplay Competition to various film schools, writers’ groups, organizations, blogs, message boards, and through social media</li> <li>Processing screenplay submissions and entering entrant information into databases</li> <li>Assisting with tracking competition readers’ progress and reviewing their notes</li> <li>Opportunity to read competition scripts</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Summer Applicants (May – August)</strong></p> <p>Primary tasks include but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Data entry, analysis, and database management</li> <li>Assists department heads with managing team of readers including facilitating communications, tracking progress, recruiting, reviewing notes, etc.</li> <li>Assists with department marketing initiatives including generating social media posts, marketing outreach, and initiative implementation</li> <li>Opportunity to read competition scripts</li> <li>Assisting with preparing notification letters to all screenplay entrants</li> <li>Basic office assistance such as answering phones and filing</li> <li>Assist with year-round events</li> </ul> <p><strong>To apply:</strong> fill out application form above.</p> Austin Film Festival Austin TX
