Unit Description

Liberty University located in the beautiful background of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Lynchburg VA is seeking a talented experienced Catering Executive Chef 2.

The Executive Chef 2 will be the lead Culinarian for our growing Catering Department at the University. Candidate will assist the Catering Management team with building sales through quality and innovation along with a managed volume of $3 million dollars in revenue.

Candidate will report directly to the Campus/District Executive Chef 4, and will supervise an hourly culinary staff of 6 to 10 culinary staff employees.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Executive Chef/Chef Leadership experience working in a large college/university food service environment.

  • Experience managing catering culinary operations.

  • Experience with menu development, new market trends, innovation to create new ideas, setting the bench mark in their account.

  • Experience with food & labor management systems

  • A Strong attention to detail and high focus on food presentation/menu planning/systems/program implementation

  • Experience building, leading and training a dynamic and diverse culinary staff.

  • Financial management skills and acumen

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and handle conflicting priorities

  • Great client relations and shows a desire to be invested in the surrounding community.

Position Summary

Provides culinary leadership within a medium sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training. Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution. Key Duties- Implements & coordinates the culinary function.

  • Directs & trains cooks & utility workers.- Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.- Manages catering & retail areas.- Customer & Client satisfaction.- Financial management to include food cost & labor management.- Manages food & physical safety programs.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement

  • Associate's Degree Basic Management Experience

  • 2 years Basic Functional Experience
