COMPENSATION: This is a 12-month position working 8-hours per day. The salary range for this position is $81,000 - $85,000 per year based on experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Serve as administrative support and confidential assistant to the Superintendent, prepare and manage correspondence, recommendations, and miscellaneous reports, arrange appointments, and

respond to routine matters not requiring the Superintendent's attention.

  • Serve as the liaison between the Superintendent and all other District staff.

  • Be knowledgeable of District organization, operations, policies and objectives; and principles and procedures of manual and computerized record keeping.

  • Work independently with limited supervision involving independent judgment and personal initiative.

  • Plan and organize work to meet schedules and timelines in an environment with changing priorities.

  • Post all School Committee meetings and subcommittee meetings in accordance with the MA Open Meeting Law. Prepare and submit newspaper ads for district business: legal notice, PR ads, and/or classified.

  • Contact and provide information and assistance to parents, the general public, and staff members in a timely manner. Interact with the public, etc. exercising tact, diplomacy, and discretion.

  • Serve as one of the District Administrators for the DESE Security Portal.

  • Update the DYRSD School Committee Policy Manual as needed in conjunction with MASC.

  • Assist in maintaining records of SC policies including reviewing updates, revising and editing policies, and assuring appropriate review by administrators and legal counsel. Administer processes for first reading and adoption by the SC with proper dissemination to appropriate sites.

  • Prepare and/or submit federal and state reports as required.

  • Maintain monthly time and effort sheets for federal grants.

  • Prepare letter of acceptance with regard to school choice applications, after checking with appropriate school principal. Maintain file of all school choice applicants. Prepare and submit annual School Choice reports.

  • Assist with and submit the Civil Rights Data Collection report.

  • Request, consolidate, and forward all administrators annual reports to the Towns of Dennis and Yarmouth.

  • In the absence of Director of Human Resources, conduct Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI), check on all newly hired staff, sub-contractors, bus drivers and substitutes, and new volunteers.

  • Create annual school calendar for approval.

  • Prepare for Retiree observance/congressional citations, awards and certificate presentation.

  • Update and maintain assigned areas of DYRSD website.

  • Maintain schedule of appointments, meetings, and conferences with use of Operation Hero, assisting with agenda preparation, notices, and reference materials needed for meetings.

  • Generate purchase order requests for Superintendent and School Committee membership dues

and fees.

  • Facilitate the approval of flyers from school-based and community-based groups.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents and government regulations.

  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in individual and group situations.

  • Ability to calmly engage with the public as the first contact for the Office of Superintendent in a timely and professional manner.

  • Ability to run Windows and Google Programs and maintain specific areas of district website.

  • Proficient infile management, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation applications, and database applications.

  • Ability to exercise judgment in relieving the Superintendent of administrative details, perform complex work involving the use of independent judgment and personal initiative, and respond positively, pleasantly, and professionally with all visitors and employees.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
