Basic Qualifications

  • Preferably, the candidate will have at least five (5) years of administrative support experience in a legal and/or business affairs setting and preferably some recent production legal experience. Prior studio, network and/or production company experience is a plus.

  • Candidates should be proficient in SAP, Gmail, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Key Note, PowerPoint and Excel. Candidates also should be comfortable with technology and the internet, in general, and should be willing to learn new software for both PC and Mac computers.

  • The candidate must be able to maintain a positive attitude while being proactive, resourceful and flexible, and have the ability to keep attorneys well-organized.

  • Candidates must be able to prioritize and meet deadlines. Daily work will require the ability to take initiative, work independently with good judgment, and maintain confidentiality at all times.

  • This position is part of a team. Candidates should be self-starters, have a cooperative work style and be prepared to multi-task and to cover additional duties as needed.

You would be responsible for the day-to-day workings of the leader(s) you support. Our small, highly collaborative team provides legal and business affairs support to all aspects of the animation studio. It goes without saying that there will be expense reports, travel planning, phone messages, preparing and revising legal documents and endless calendar jockeying, but this job is very much about people. The relationship you form with the executive(s) you support is absolutely critical, because that's what enables you to become a true partner. In addition to understanding your executive's business -- and business needs -- inside and out, you'll also need deep knowledge of the leadership and workings of The Walt Disney Animation Studios and of related departments across the Disney enterprise. As the "face" of your executive(s) within The Walt Disney Company, your professionalism, loyalty and attitude are a reflection of the office, and as such, are a key component to its success. Every day as an Executive Support Professional is different! On any given day your responsibilities might include:

  • Maintaining and organizing files and documents (both electronic and paper);

  • Answering telephone calls; maintaining multiple calendars; scheduling meetings;

  • Maintaining status charts of pending matters; preparing expense reports;

  • Attending meetings and capturing substantive issues and action items for follow-up;

  • Preparing and revising a variety of legal documents; preparing correspondence to both internal and external contacts;

  • Photocopying, scanning, faxing, and distributing documents; ordering supplies; creating and maintaining attorneys' contacts directory;

  • Collecting tax and other documents from talent; research; overall production legal assistance;

This position will have day-to-day business and legal affairs responsibilities for the development and production of Warner Bros. animated television series, direct-to-video and feature productions. * Drafts agreements for all facets of animation development, production and distribution, including network, cable and new media license agreements, above-the-line agreements, option and literary purchase agreements, production services agreements, studio facility agreements, assignments, releases, contingent compensation definitions, and other related agreements. * Negotiates deals to engage above the line talent (writers, producers, directors and voice talent) and below the line talent (casting and voice directors) in connection with production and development of animated series. * Manages the clearance department and supervises two clearance administrators; Responsible for maintaining clearance policies and resolving day-to-day clearance inquiries in conjunction with the clearance team. * Provides business and legal services to creative executives, production department and show producers, preparation and negotiation of releases, voice talent agreements, chain-of-title memos, and other development and production–related matters. * Coordinates legal matters with other WB departments, including employment, labor, IP, litigation, music, etc., and advise creative executives and productions accordingly. * Researches rights to exploit properties in various markets and rights of talent in connection with such exploitation. * Researches and answers inquiries regarding contracts, privacy rights, copyright laws, script clearances, guild requirements, and other legal matters. * Updates form agreements (e.g. network and other licensing agreements, overall agreements, contingent compensation definitions, and writer-producer agreements).
