DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital is DMC's largest hospital, offering a comprehensive heart center, cancer care, gerontology, emergency medicine, obstetrics/gynecology and cosmetic services. Sinai-Grace's joint replacement program features a revolutionary minimally invasive knee and hip replacement surgery that attracts patients from all over the country. Sinai-Grace operates more than 21 outpatient care sites and ambulatory surgery centers throughout Wayne and Oakland Counties and is one of 10 hospitals in the nation to be awarded a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant to help set the standards of cardiac care for hospitals and physicians throughout the nation.

Job Summary

Assists the hospital president by providing highly advanced, diversified, and confidential administrative and secretarial support. Exercises latitude for independent judgment and initiative to maximize office efficiency and accuracy of communications, schedules, meetings, and data gathering and analysis.

Provides advanced administrative support to the hospital president which requires high level interaction with Board members, City, State and Federal officials, university officials, community leaders, executive management from other hospitals, DMC physicians and top management groups to discuss the status of various issues and to exchange highly confidential and sensitive information.

Initiates routine and non-routine correspondence, memoranda and other communications and/or assists and advises in composing various correspondence.

Ensures the president responds in a timely manner and communicates for the president as directed.

Coordinates administrative aspects of governance activities, which may include continuing education development, yearly review and evaluation of hospital board and committee effectiveness.

Serves as an administrative liaison to the hospital board of trustees and committees and is responsible for administrative aspects of hospital Board of Directors activities including planning meetings and coordinating Board activities. Utilizes broad knowledge of hospital and corporate operations and policies to function as a resource regarding DMC policies, positions, practices and current and controversial issues.

Screens telephone calls and visitors and responds to routine to complex inquiries. Provides guidance over activities within the office to ensure smooth flow of work and information.

Coordinates the work of one or more lower level secretaries or other administrative or clerical staff on a regular reporting or project basis. May provide secretarial and administrative support to the Board of Trustees.

1.Associates degree in Secretarial Science or related area or the equivalent level of knowledge gained through education and/or experience.

2.Five years of progressively more responsible related experience including the performance of all secretarial/administrative duties for key management personnel.
