The CIB Payments Business provides Payments, Receivables, and Trade Finance Products to 142k corporations, financial institutions, governments and municipalities domiciled in over 180 countries. CIB Payments also serves as the overall payment hub for all lines of business across J.P. Morgan. On average, the Payments business processes 30.1MM transactions daily across 122 currencies valued at $3.2T. Wholesale Payments Client Service and Implementations (WCSI) is the implementation and servicing arm of the Payments Business and consists of nearly 3,000 professionals globally. Wholesale Payments Operations, runs global payment operations and consists of almost 9,000 employees across 60 sites.

The Payments industry is undergoing significant disruption, and JPMorgan Payments is leveraging this opportunity to position itself to win. As the business evolves, Wholesale Payments Client Service and Implementations, a global team of 3,000+ employees will have to transform to optimally support our clients. These changes will impact the organizational structure of the business, the business processes, and underlying technology. The objective of this role is to define the five year plan, and then lay out the execution steps in six month intervals to help govern the transformation.

Role Description:

If you accept the role of Wholesale Payments Service & Implementations - Organizational Strategy and Design, you will report to the Head of Strategy, Innovation and Digitization. In this role, your primary objective will be to partner with senior implementation and service leads, as well as firmwide strategy groups to help frame and manage the evolution of the Payments Servicing and Implementations organization, a global team of 3,000+ employees. You will collaborate with the management team to ideate around org design principles, set a hypotheses of the end state org structure, evaluate options, and then build a comprehensive "north star" strategy for the organization. Once there is general agreement around the end state, you'll be responsible for architecting the steps needed evolve the global team from current state to end state. You'll also be responsible for fleshing out the details of various areas where the current operating models, processes or tools are under-developed and need to be revamped.

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for architecting the long term service and support model for a business undergoing radical transformation. Responsibilities include:

Current State Analysis

  • Assess and map current state of Service and Implementations

Strategy

  • Identify potential areas for transformation. Areas of interest include new products (JPM Coin), new industries (marketplaces), new segments (franchisees).

  • Define the overall "north star" organizational design for the organization, as well as processes and tools required to support clients effectively

  • Validate the hypothesis with stakeholders.

Transformation

  • Develop interim stages to help the organization understand how to evolve from current state to target state

  • Identify specific areas which are in need of more refined definition; and then produce detailed views of the end state organizational structure, process, or tools required to support those areas.

  • Partner with product and technology to ensure appropriate processes and tools are designed, developed and deployed.

  • Partner with Service and Implementation leads to ensure transformation is delivered.

Requirements:

A successful candidate will be an experienced leader with strong analytical skills, an ability to lay out and articulate a strategy and define the plan to get from here to there.

  • Proven ability to review a business, identify improvements, determine benefits and prioritize recommendations

  • Proven ability to design an organization around an evolving business strategy

  • Proven ability to structure a transformation into an actionable roadmap with discrete milestones and success criteria

  • Proven ability to develop cohesive partnerships with the business, operations, technology & other key stakeholders

  • Proven ability to work and deliver effectively in a matrix organization

  • Proven ability to challenge and influence stakeholders to ensure strategy, roadmap and outcomes are well considered, feasible and reasonable

  • Experienced at implementing large organizational change initiatives with technological and operational components

  • Understanding of the Wholesale Payments business including Treasury services, Merchant services, and Liquidity

  • Analytical problem solver

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills (including PowerPoint decks)

  • Prefer business strategy consulting experience at a top tier firm

  • Undergraduate required / MBA preferred
