Covance is searching for an Executive Director of Marketing for our Clinical Development and Commercialization Services organization. This leader will serve as a key member of the Marketing Leadership Team, contributing to a team culture that values, recognizes and generates high performance, supports innovation and is always striving to improve the client experience.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Set a strategic vision and provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of a team of colleagues.
Complete all HR processes for the team, including Performance Management, Career Mapping and Individual Development plans.
Responsible for delivering a developed talent base and anticipating/preparing for the longer-term development needs within the area of responsibility.
Achieve team budget targets.
Encourages acceptable levels of risk-taking towards driving innovation.
Accountable for developing the global marketing plan for clinical business unit by having a strong understanding of the market, competitors and Covance's capabilities.
Monitor and assess strategic position of the clinical business, including clients' needs and competitors' offerings. Modify business unit market strategy and positioning as appropriate in partnership with cross-functional business unit leadership.
Develop a global customer experience map to deepen organizational knowledge on how to deliver the desired customer experience.
Uncover key actionable customer insights by gaining a deep understanding of the client and their needs.
Partner with demand management team to create tactical plans that bring new services to market with a high quality of execution of in-market channel plans to improve the client experience.
Ensure effective performance measurement and deliver regular assessments to evaluate the client experience and adjust as necessary.
Connect client insights and analytics together to tell a compelling and persuasive story and deliver clear and actionable recommendations to adjust growth strategies.
Identify innovation opportunities, business unit 5-year growth strategy and lead the commercial assessment to prioritize opportunities within the clinical business unit.
Manage the Phase I-IV clinical marketing staff, Covance Market Access and Phase IV solutions, providing development and training and leading the department as a strategic business function.
Bachelor's degree in marketing or business preferred
Master's degree required
12+ years in marketing leadership positions (Sr. Director level or above) with a strong track record of accomplishments in driving effective business strategies.
Successful history of developing teams by engaging team through coaching and executing individual development plans.
Strong services experience and orientation with a minimum of 8 years of commercial and/or operational experience with serviced based companies.
Strong capabilities in developing and managing effective working relationship with senior leaders.
Ability to be flexible, prioritize multiple demands and deal with ambiguity and lead teams through complex and challenging cross-functional projects.
Specific expertise in marketing healthcare services highly desirable.
Strong history of driving innovation and business growth strategies.
