Position Description

The Executive Sales Director, Pittsburgh is the second level sales leader responsible for execution of the commercial strategy for profitable growth in a geographic area for general and specialized sales management and representatives. The territory includes Western and Central New York, Western Pennsylvania, and Northeast Ohio. The position will be responsible for managing and developing a regional sales team of 4 Sales Directors, as well as 30 indirect reports. The position reports directly to Geoff Albrecht, the VP Commercial for the North Region, and is based in Pittsburgh, PA.

Responsibilities include:

  • Hire, develop and coach front line sales leaders (and reps) against management development competencies and sales excellence standards

  • Develop, grow and strengthen key account relationships

  • Translate the region market strategy into tactics and plans for assigned geography

  • Lead and inspire sales teams to achieve all business results

  • Develop effective sales teams

  • Collaborate actively with operations to meet customer needs


Commercial Level:

  • Total revenue for diagnostic services business

  • Operating margin

  • Customer attrition

Regional Level:

  • Revenue

  • Volume

  • Market share

  • Mix impact (net of price)

  • Price Realization (net of mix)

  • Cost of selling and marketing

  • Key account sales measures

  • Employee retention

Desired Experience

  • 8+ years proven success and growth in a sales management/leadership role within a healthcare environment; strongly prefer diagnostics, lab or medical sales experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of sales processes, key account and sales management

  • Health and other key Payor knowledge

  • Proven track record of inspirational leadership

  • Talent management and development experience

  • Demonstrated success operating in a collaborative and effective manner in a matrixed organization

  • Bachelor's Degree is required; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred
