POSITION: Exceptional Children's Compliance and Learning Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Bachelor's degree in an Exceptional Education discipline; Master's degree
preferred;
2.High level of competence in knowledge of IDEA and
Procedures Governing Children with Disabilities;
3.Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience in an exceptional
program area;
4.Successful experience working providing staff development for teachers and
staff;
5.Broad knowledge of Exceptional Children programs;
6.Demonstrated organizational skills, good communication and writing skills;
7.Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities;
8.Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
9.Proficiency in using educational software, assessment tools, and assistive
technologies; and
exceptional children.
REPORTS TO: Director of Exceptional Children
JOB GOAL: To provide support services to exceptional and preschool staff to ensure compliance and
quality instruction.
OVERVIEW: The Exceptional Children's Compliance and Learning Coordinator is responsible for
assisting the Exceptional Children's Director in overseeing and coordinating programs,
unique learning experiences and services for students with exceptionalities that are
compliant with IDEA. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders,
including teachers, parents, administrators, and support staff, to ensure the provision of
appropriate and individualized support for exceptional children. The coordinator works
towards creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment that meets the unique
needs of these students. The first two years of this role will focus on assisting in the
coordination and planning for the district demerger and planning program changes and
services for students with disabilities.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Program Development and Coordination:
? Assist with planning, facilitating, implementing, and evaluating the exceptional children's program in
preparation for the district demerger.
? Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of programs and services for exceptional
children, in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
? Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and support staff to design individualized education plans
(IEPs) and ensure their proper implementation.
? Coordinate and facilitate the provision of appropriate accommodations, resources, and assistive
technologies to support exceptional children's learning needs.
? Monitor and assess the effectiveness of programs, services and compliance, making necessary adjustments
to enhance student outcomes.
? Assist with data collection for grant reporting compliance
? Monitor and assess the effectiveness of instructional practices in the exceptional children's program
? Assist MTSS coordinator in progressing the district forward with MTSS best practices
2.Student Assessment and Support:
? Collaborate with teachers, parents, and specialists to identify exceptional children's educational needs and
conduct comprehensive assessments to determine appropriate interventions.
? Support the evaluation and identification of exceptional children, including students with learning
disabilities, developmental delays, or emotional/behavioral challenges.
? Provide guidance and support to teachers in implementing effective instructional strategies and behavior
management techniques.
? Develop and maintain systems for tracking student progress, ensuring data-driven decision-making and the
continuous improvement of services.
3.Collaboration and Communication:
? Foster collaborative relationships with teachers, parents, and external service providers to ensure effective
communication and coordination of services.
? Conduct regular meetings and trainings to update staff on best practices, legal requirements, and new
developments in special education.
? Serve as a liaison between the school, parents, and community resources to facilitate access to additional
support services.
? Advocate for exceptional children's needs, ensuring their inclusion and equal opportunities within the
school community.
? Collaborate with other school districts in collecting and reviewing student data in preparation for the
district demerger to ensure a plan is in place for students to be served appropriately and in alignment with
IEPs.
4.Compliance and Reporting:
? Stay updated on local, state, and federal regulations governing special education and ensure compliance
with all relevant policies and procedures.
? Maintain accurate and confidential records, including IEPs, progress reports, and related documentation.
? Prepare reports and documentation as required by regulatory agencies, school administration, and other
stakeholders.
SALARY: ECPS Salary Schedule for Coordinators
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months, as determined by funding/program needs.
EVALUATION: ECPS Licensed Administrators
