Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1.

Position requires for each individual to be able to interpret a MSDS ( Material Safety Data Sheet )
2.

Annually must comply with having a TB Skin test conducted.
3.

Attends Customer Service in-services as scheduled.
4.

Complies with departmental and Baptist Health policies/procedures.
5.

Performs cleaning procedures daily in all office and ancillary areas as assigned schedule dictates.
6.

Operates equipment in a safe and productive manner.
7.

Maintains areas of responsibility at a 90% rating.
8.

Cleans and polishes equipment at the end of each shift.
9.

Chemicals are mixed correctly and are only used on the approved surfaces for each chemical.
10.

Will use Personal Protective Equipment as instructed.
11.

Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job related hazards, and national patient safety goals.
12.

Ensures positive customer relations interactions

  • Manages difficult or emotional customer situations

  • Responds promptly to customer needs

  • Solicits customer feedback to improve service

  • Responds to requests for service and assistance

Maintains communication with assigned rooms, clinical coordinators, and control desk charge nurse 16. Functions as a scrubbed (clean and sterile gown) member of the patient care team 17. Assists with the preparation of preoperative site and patient draping 18. Performs activities required during the operation (e.g. handling of instruments, sponges, sutures, catheters, drains, dressing, etc.) under direct supervision 19. Assists with cleaning of rooms between cases and at the end of the surgery schedule 20. Selects and transports required operative setup to the room specific for the next case 21. Tests operation efficiency of equipment prior to and after each case, reporting any problem to the Unit Director or designee 22. Disinfects and / or sterilizes instruments prior to procedures as needed 23. Assists in restocking rooms according to established (standard) requirements 24. Performs sponge, instrument, and sharps counts per policy 25. Observes for and corrects breaks in aseptic technique 26. Ensures size appropriate equipment and supplies 27. Assists in taking inventory of equipment and supplies 28. Assists the physician, within scope of practice, during procedures as necessary 29. Assists with orientation of new personnel and students as requested 30. Cross trains to the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) 31. Cleans surgical scopes thoroughly 32.
