Evidence Technician (Property Room/Evidence Warehouse) (3 Positions)

Duties: Performs daily intake, including: receiving property from the secured temporary storage lockers; checking for proper packaging of each item of evidence; checking for proper completeness of submission forms; logging conforming property and evidence into the property room from the storage lockers; initiating refusal process for any non-conforming property or evidence. Stores property and evidence according to procedures. Prepares evidence for transport and submission to the appropriate laboratory. Intakes evidence received back from the laboratory. Maintains tickler files for proper return, release, and/or disposal of evidence. Determines when property and evidence can be released and/or disposed of. Creates disposal letters for the courts. Prepares property and evidence for return and/or disposal. Releases property to owners. Creates statistical data reports on the property and evidence of the Police Department upon request. Performs other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications: High School diploma or G.E.D equivalent. Valid driver's license (Texas upon hire). Physical ability to perform job duties including: standing, walking, sitting, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, hearing, pushing, pulling, and lifting and carrying weights as shown in the work classification. Specific vision abilities including: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must obtain certification through the Texas Association of Property and Evidence Inventory Technician within one (1) year of employment. Must obtain certification through the International Association of Property and Evidence Technician within three (3) years of employment. NOTE: Qualifying education, experience, knowledge and skills must be documented on your job application. PREFFERED: Previously trained in NIMS (IS-700, 800, 100, 200, 300, and 400). Demonstrated working knowledge of recognized standards for property rooms and logistics.
