The Event Manager encompasses identifying any potential businesses, researching, writing, planning and running all aspects of an event. Directs coordination of activities to prepare for each event. JOB OVERVIEW The Communications & Events Manager is responsible for developing and executing public relations strategies and tactics supporting Jack Wolfskin along with managing the planning and execution of events to drive brand awareness. The Communications & Events Manager oversees day-to-day activity of public relations agency(ies) as well as establishes and maintains relationships/contact with relevant media and organizes and plans community and brand events. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Public Relations: * Responsible for sourcing new PR agencies, managing the RFP process, and working with the GM of Jack Wolfskin NA & Director of Marketing to select the appropriate partner. * In charge of managing the PR agency to develop the strategic communications/public relations plans to promote the brands' products, personnel and policies. * Partner closely with the brand marketing team to provide strategic and tactical public relations counsel and training. * Draft/edit new product press releases, speeches, and other corporate writing materials as needed. * Monitor industry trends that impact the communications strategy. Stay abreast of developments related to the competitive landscape. Interpret and present Industry research to the internal JW team; assess how findings impact marketing direction. * Develop a strong understanding of the strategic marketing objectives expectations and pursue communication tactics and strategies to meet these goals. * Conduct weekly review of incoming requests to team; escalate urgent requests as necessary. Event Planning: * Support the brand marketing team with the planning and execution of brand building events and programs that support the overall marketing objectives across the US and Canada. * Event responsibilities include sourcing vendors/venues, managing contracts, planning all logistics for the events and being the point person for run of show. * Responsible for connecting the media and drafting all PR surrounding the events to drive engagement * Be a key partner to the GM's Executive Assistant to help plan internal team events * Other duties as assigned. TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities) * Excellent planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, and oral and written communication skills. * Demonstrated ability to work with Senior Management level. * Must be a strong motivator. * Must be able to make tough decisions. * Must have strong personal drive. * Excellent presentation skills to large and small groups of internal and external customers. * Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills. * Proficiency with MS Office and Mac software applications. * Ability to multi-task and interface/manage across different levels of the organization. * Ability to influence and lead in a collaborative manner in matrixed organization. * Ability to set and accomplish time-oriented goals. * Ability to deal with various personalities. Excellent interpersonal skills. * Knowledge of the outdoor industry and media contacts. * Poised, polished and professional demeanor. * Ability to handle media requests and event set-up during non-business hours and weekends. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE * Bachelor's Degree required. * Minimum 5 years related experience. * Outdoor industry knowledge preferred.
