The Stuart McClure, Founder, Executive Circle Summer Internship Program is an exclusive twelve-week opportunity, inviting interns across different disciplines to work along our senior team members and explore a career within the cybersecurity industry! Throughout the program, there are ample opportunities to participate in career development workshops, complete a meaningful resume-building project, network with the BlackBerry Cylance team, and more! Our internship program is structured to develop future thinkers, grant students access to A.I. industry leaders, and provide mentorship to eager students interested in the cybersecurity industry.


BlackBerry Cylance is seeking an Events Intern interested in corporate event planning including tradeshows & conferences and gaining corporate knowledge in the cybersecurity industry. As a BlackBerry Cylance Summer Intern, you will take ownership of various projects and assisting the team to further department initiatives. Projects are subject to change based on department needs at time of the internship.


  • Plan, coordinate, and execute events either on your own or under supervision by event coordinators and/or managers

  • Create budgets, manage purchase orders, and payments

  • Assist with event logistics including but not limited to rooming lists, event registration, venue sourcing, catering, promotional items, and vendor coordination

  • Assist at local events as an on-site host managing room setups, attendee registrations/check-ins, and promotional item giveaways

  • Compile a daily log to keep the Events team updated on project and assignment progress

  • Complete weekly quizzes to learn more about BlackBerry Cylance and grow cybersecurity industry knowledge

  • Assist in day-to-day activities to help further department initiatives as directed by team mentors and/or management

  • Attend all Internship program meetings, events, and career development workshops

  • Create and present a final project at the program ending ceremony to managers, mentors, and peers

  • Protect BlackBerry Cylance operations by keeping information confidential

  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • Student enrolled in an accredited university in their junior or senior year (preferred), pursuing a bachelor's degree in hospitality, event management, marketing, or other related field preferred

  • Able to work full-time hours (40 hours a week) for the entire 12-week program

  • Experience with events, either tradeshows or other smaller scale social events

  • Experience with contract negotiations, venue contracts, catering, or other event related vendors

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including, but not limited to PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook programs to complete work on a daily basis

  • Utilizes critical thinking and analytical skills on a regular basis to complete tasks

  • Takes initiative and uses problem solving skills to overcome issues as needed

  • Enthusiasm, and a willingness to dive in to a project and learn

Interns start at $15 per hour.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: * Membership in and actions arising from the event planning committee overseeing and driving the 2018 Viewpoint Collaborate Viewpoint User Conference. * Owning the event response workflow, including answering registrations and attendance questions from customers, partners and exhibitors submitted to the email box. * Implementing and updating registrations and session details in the event management platform, CVENT. * Creating the conference mobile app in CrowdCompass including speaker, session, and exhibitor details. Developing the interactive features in the mobile app including polling questions, surveys and the popular photo scavenger hunt game CLICK! * Coordinating between other departments within Viewpoint who own key roles in the conference to ensure accuracy of information and workflows. We're looking for an organized and creative self-starter who can manage multiple tasks and communicate effectively with a diverse audience, both internal and customer-facing. You should bring a strong desire to learn, have a strong work ethic, maintain attention to detail, and be able to work independently as well as a part of a team.
