This is a paid part-time (15 hour a week) Work-Study position. Candidates are required to be currently enrolled in college to qualify.
Supports the success of Chapter fundraising events. Works with staff and volunteer leadership to assist with planning, coordinating and implementing events designed to raise funds for and to promote community awareness of Red Cross programs and services.
1.Administrative Event Support: Provides administrative support in the research and solicitation of new and existing donors to support chapter special events. Provides support and guidance to event chairs and related committees. Support includes activities such as record keeping, preparing meeting notices and minutes, handling correspondence and meeting with sponsors. Works at special events as directed.
2.General Administrative Support: Prepares documents and maintains files. Tracks donor contracts and payments, reviews and submits event-related invoices for payment, writes solicitation, acknowledgement and thank you letters, assembles donor solicitation packets, creates and updates donor/program related forms, researches funding sources, and executes mass mailings. Maintains spreadsheets of all special event activities.
3.Event Coordination: Coordinates work with external and internal audiences including vendors and donors. Contacts donors with routine information and researches records for correct demographic information.
4.Assists with planning, implementation, and production of all fundraising events including vendor relationships, budgets, and event logistics. May coordinate activities related to event program. Assists with development of event materials through collaboration with internal communications and marketing groups. Materials include media releases, photo session scheduling, and handling interviews.
Education: Candidate must be actively pursuing a college level or Associates degree. Prefer additional training in business or secretarial disciplines.
Experience: Minimum 2 years related work experience is required.
Skills and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong skills in planning and problem-solving. Capable of directing and working effectively with donors, volunteers, staff and committees in a wide range of activities while under pressure and/or deadlines. Demonstrated competencies in the following areas: detail orientation and organization skills, flexibility, customer service, and ability to problem solve. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with integrity and ethically.
Other: Intermediate level proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Travel: May involve work in the field.

Depending on work assignment, may require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights up to 20 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information. Overall mobility is essential including sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle and working under challenging conditions.
Work Conditions: Work is performed indoors with some potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to emergency services relief work.
May travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughout chapter jurisdiction, state and Red Cross system. Because the Red Cross is a disaster response
organization, staff may be asked to be on 24-hour call during period of major disaster.
