Position Summary

Recognizing the connection that events and programming play in creating an active and lively Waterfront, WPB seeks to hire an outgoing, dynamic, and energetic Assistant to assist in the execution of program at our Waterfront parks.

Primary Relationships

This position reports to the Events Manager. Within the Organization, the position has a primary working relationship with the Events Manager, Director of Marketing Communications, and service providers. Outside the Organization, the position coordinates, primarily, with the general public and service providers.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Accountable for assisting with on site set up and management of all annually occurring Waterfront Partnership events and programming including, but not limited to, Fun on the Waterfront Outdoor Concert Series, Harbor Market, and Films on the Waterfront.


Fun on the Waterfront Outdoor Concert Series:
  • Organize and maintain an inventory of all event supplies
  • Assist with bar duties such as pouring beer, batching cocktails, maintaining the register and other bar related tasks as needed.
  • Take photos during the event and engage with attendees.
  • Post photos and updates on Instagram stories and other social media platforms as needed
  • Organize and work the Waterfront Partnership tent and Photobooth while acting as a brand ambassador for the organization
  • Assist with overall event set up and break down
Harbor Market, outdoor pop-up Food Truck market:
  • Organize and maintain an inventory of all event supplies
  • Post photos and updates on Instagram stories and other social media platforms as needed
  • Periodically wipe down tables and help keep area clean
  • Organize and work the Waterfront Partnership tent and Photobooth while engaging with attendees and acting as a brand ambassador for the organization
  • Assist with overall event set up and break down
Films on the Waterfront:
  • Organize and maintain an inventory of all event supplies
  • Post photos and updates on Instagram stories and other social media platforms as needed
  • Organize and work the Waterfront Partnership tent and Photobooth while engaging with attendees and acting as a brand ambassador for the organization
  • Assist with overall event set up and break down

Qualifications

  • General experience with marketing, advertising, public relations, or a related field
  • Minimum one year of experience working in events
  • Passion and knowledge for working in Baltimore City and the Waterfront areas
  • Prior experience in a customer service environment
  • Friendly, approachable, upbeat with outgoing and positive attitude
  • Proactive and takes initiative
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms and tools
  • Must be well-organized and able to work independently and as part of team
  • Comfortable working on site at events that take place in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing approximately 30lbs
  • Reliable transportation
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends

Availability
Must be able to work the following:

  • Harbor Market: Wednesdays and Fridays (April 12, 2019 – October 11, 2019) 10am-3pm
  • Fun on the Waterfront Outdoor Concert Series: Every 1st and 2nd Friday (May 3, 2019 – September 27, 2019) 3pm- 9pm
  • Films on the Waterfront: Saturdays July 20, 2019: 6pm-10pm and September 7, 2019: 4pm-10pm

NOTE: the position is required to work two 11 hour days per month (May- Sept.)

Compensation & Benefits

This is a contract position of 10-16 hours per week. Compensation is $16/hour.

VIEW JOBS 4/18/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-17T00:00 Class Description NON-CIVIL SERVICE Temporary Summer Seasonal Inclusion Assistant (Recreation Arts Instructor) (Seasonal approximately 35 hrs/weekly) Salary: $12.00 Hourly Position Overview: An Inclusion Assistant is to provide on-site assistance to participants with physical, developmental/intellectual and/or emotional disabilities as they integrate into general recreation programs, including recreation center summer camps. This position reports directly to the Inclusion Specialist. Position hours will be determined by the requirements of the program for which the participant has registered, not to exceed 40 hours per week. Hours will typically occur during Monday- Friday between 8:00 am -4:00 pm. Work may be performed/conducted in a physically stimulating environment (heat). Applicants who apply by March 30, 2019, are invited to attend our seasonal hiring event "Ready Set Hire" to meet and interview with hiring managers. Typical Examples of the Work: The following examples illustrate the work performed in the positions in this class. Positions may require some or all of these examples depending on the scope of work and where the individual is assigned within the agency. This list is not inclusive. A position may require related duties not listed, if necessary, to accomplish the work of the agency. * Provides on-site assistance to participants with physical, developmental/intellectual, and/or emotional disabilities as they integrate into general recreation programs. Actively and responsibly supervises assigned participants. Coordinates with the program director to adapt activities when necessary. Maintains a safe environment and promotes participant's success in a recreational program. * Assists with activities of daily living. * Effectively communicates with inclusion specialist, program staff, & participant's caregivers regarding participant's needs, coping strategies, and necessary adaptations in a positive and confidential manner. * Assists with the development and tracking of participant goals and objectives for participation in the program and in social skill development. Maintains behavior protocols when necessary. * Assists in the promotion of the program by providing calendars, newsletters, and other forms of communication to parents and the community. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Ability to work with youth with and without disabilities * Ability to follow instructions * Ability to adapt quickly Required Education and Experience: Minimum age of 18 years old Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate. Experience: One year of experience in recreational activities or working with participants with disabilities. Desire ability to work with participants with all levels and types of disabilities. Preferred: Experience working with participants with moderate to severe disabilities preferred. Equivalencies: College course work in related fields such as education, child development, special education, psychology, therapeutic recreation, or recreation and parks may be substituted for the experience requirement. Compensation The salary is $12.00 per hour based upon the relevant education and experience.
