This position serves as a liaison between all levels of university personnel and members of the CNU community and coordinates their use of CNU facilities. Minimum Qualifications

Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent Experience Required:

Experience in event and conference operations. Experience with basic AV needs and technology. Experience with word processing and spreadsheet software.

One or more of the following: experience with event management software, room diagramming software and/or conference programmer software. Customer service and event management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Education Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Tourism/Event Management or related field.

Collegiate Conference and Events Professional certification. Experience Preferred: Experience in theater management.

Experience working in a university setting. Experience with Microsoft Office suite.

Visit our University blog at Overview: The Head Athletic Trainer will work under the general direction of the Athletic Director and Assistant Athletic Director to be responsible for all aspects of athletic training for an USCAA intercollegiate athletics program. This responsibilities will include, but are not limited to rehabilitation of athletic injuries/illnesses, injury evaluation, management and documentation, treatment/preparation for practices and competitions, on-site coverage, supervision of athletic training staff and of the assigned athletic teams. Assist in advancing the department's mission, vision, and strategic plan including its commitment to equity and diversity. The Head Athletic Trainer will develop, coordinate and administer a comprehensive preventative and rehabilitative healthcare program for student athletes. The Head Athletic Trainer will be responsible for ensuring that an Athletic Trainers are available during all practices and competitions for the teams competing, during both home and away events. This role will supervisor an Assistant Athletic Trainer, and several Student Workers aiding in the preventative care of our student athletes. FunctionsFunctions * Plans, organizes and delivers treatment/rehabilitation programs specific to student athletes as medically prescribed by the athlete's Physician or Head Athletic Trainer. * Advises and treats student athletes to maintain physical fitness for participation in athletic competition. * Prevention, management, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries/illnesses/medical conditions of SU student-athletes. * Maintaining medical records on student-athletes to include physical examinations, insurance information, injury evaluation and rehabilitation reports. * Attending scheduled meetings, team practices and events including some travel. * Assisting in the management of institutional and conference drug testing. * Interfacing with coaches regarding injured student-athletes. * Following the NATA Code of Ethics as well as understanding and following HIPAA and FERPA regulations * Remaining current on all Virginia state and national requirements for license renewal. * Agreeing to comply with all University, accreditation and athletic conference bylaws and legislation. * Maintain and coordinate a comprehensive sports medicine program. * Records and maintains appropriate treatment/rehabilitation records for student-athletes. * Evaluates athletes' physical condition, response and progress and discuss with appropriate physician. * Interfaces with student athletes, staff, coaches, physicians, athletic trainers and auxiliary medical personnel for counseling purposes and information exchange. * Provides athletic training coverage for designated sports programs, including practices, home and away contests. * Provides AT Room coverage during designated seasons. * Assigns Sports Responsibility to other members of the Athletic Training Staff * Provides medical emergency coverage to injured student athletes at practices and athletics events as needed. * Administers first aid until appropriate medical assistance can be obtained. * Arranges for injured athletes to be seen by Student Health Center physician. * Supervises and educates athletic training students in a clinical setting. * Stays informed of developments in field. Reads pertinent literature, attends meetings and educational classes and participates in professional associations as appropriate. * Oversee the budget responsibilities of inventory, purchasing and maintenance of supplies and materials, maintain medical and administrative records; * Perform professional and administrative services essential for the success of the program. * Evaluate and diagnose injuries sustained by student-athletes. * Assist in administering physical examinations. * Design and implement both preventative and rehabilitative programs for student athletes. * Act as liaison between student-athletes and their parents to insurance companies and doctor's offices; refer and schedule doctor's appointments when needed. * Submit insurance claim paperwork in a timely manner. * Assist in securing and maintaining all student-athlete's insurance policy information; * Help with maintenance of all athletic training room supplies and equipment; * Assist with developing and maintaining an Athletic Medicine handbook / policy manual for staff and student athletic trainers; * Help to establish and enforce codes of conduct and rules of use for the athletic training facilities and equipment; * Share in the responsibility of athletic training room maintenance and upkeep; * Help in overseeing the organization and administration of an Exposure Control Plan for Bloodborne Pathogens as dictated by the State of Virginia and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA); * Work in conjunction with the athletic performance staff with regard to the strength, conditioning, and flexibility of student-athletes, injury prevention, exercise technique, and rehabilitation of injured student-athletes; * Abide by NATA code of ethics. * Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. The Skills: * Ability to adhere to all policies, rules and regulations of the university, the United States Collegiate Athletic Association and/or the National Junior College Athletic Association * Ability to remain current on all required certifications and licensure * Ability to adhere to all policies, rules and regulations of the National Associate of Athletic Training * A proven record in following directives and being responsible for tasks which have been assigned. * Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment as needed. * Ability to attend seminars, meetings and other professional development opportunities * Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities. * Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions, and other outcomes. * Knowledge of management methods and ability to provide administrative guidance within area of responsibility and provide direct training and supervision as needed. * Ability to apply budgeting and fiscal planning techniques within financial constraints. * Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public. * Ability to communicate effectively - orally, by phone, in person, and in writing * Ability to represent the department and University in a friendly, courteous and professional manner. * Ability to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner. * Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment QualificationsRequired Education and Experience: * Bachelor's Degree (Master's degree preferred) in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine or related discipline, from an accredited institution of higher education * At least 2 years of athletic training experience (Internships and Graduate Assistants Applicable) * Experience working in a college/university Sports Medicine program * Experience working with variety of student athletes in a variety of sports * Computer skills and experience utilizing an electronic medical records system. * Demonstrated attention to detail and strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills * Must be certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC). * Must have or obtain a license to practice Athletic Training through the Virginia Board of Medicine * CPR/AED/First Aid certification required, with instructor certification preferred * Red Cross Professional Rescuer and Community First Aid Instructor preferred. * Preferred Certified Personal Trainer through NASM or ACE, or a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach through NSCA or CSCCA. * Must possess a valid driver's license. * Certified in Functional Movement Screening (Preferred). * Soft Tissue Mobilization certification. * Must be able to lift 50lb. * Must be able to work outdoors during inclement weather. * Must be able to stand for an extended amount of time.
