By hosting regional, national and international conventions, meetings and trade shows, the convention center infuses the local economy with new money and expanding business opportunities. As a result, roughly 1.5 million attendees contribute approximately $3 billion to the area's annual economy. The OCCC is a leader in the events, trade shows and conventions industry and is known as The Center of Hospitality.

We are currently searching for well-qualified applicants to fill the role ofEvent Transportation Operations Coordinator, this position is responsible for managing the successful execution of comprehensive traffic management & transportation plans for the Orange County Convention Center. To include oversight of traffic operations consisting of personal vehicles, taxis, buses, pedestrian etc. Ensures staffing resources, signage, and equipment are positioned and operating effectively.

Work is performed with independence under general supervision of the Assistant Transportation Supervisor. Performance is reviewed through observations, conferences, reports, and results achieved.

Representative Duties

Duties may vary by area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.

General

  • Interprets and executes all phases of the comprehensive traffic management and transportation plan. May participate in the preparation and scheduling of the plan.

  • Implements the comprehensive plan, including placement of all necessary equipment.

Accounts for all equipment and staff including authorization of time clock/sheet adjustments. Identifies and assigns staff for effective execution of event traffic plans.

  • Coordinates internally within the Public Safety Division and with other OCCC sections such as Event Management, Sales, Capital Planning, and Facilities Maintenance to obtain operating knowledge and feedback.

  • Provides regular status reports to supervisory team on assigned area of operation.

  • Provides post event assessments, evaluations, and reports regarding effectiveness of the comprehensive plan and applicability of traffic management strategies for future events.

  • Attends pre-convention meetings, client planning visits, site visits and operational meetings to gather planning and operations related information as needed.

  • Coordinates closely with OCCC parking to identify and adjust traffic flow into parking areas.

  • Makes adjustments and responds to situations that impact transportation operations.

  • Responds to internal and external requests per SOP as directed.

  • Maintains equipment including fueling of vehicles and minor upkeep.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Traffic Management Coordinator

  • Manages all OCCC traffic management operations, Identifies, and implements adjustments to traffic operations as needed.

  • Oversees check-in, position assignment, and briefing of daily staff assigned to traffic management operations consisting of traffic monitors and crossing guards. Oversees performance and makes adjustments accordingly.

  • Programs the Dynamic Messaging Signage (DMS) System for OCCC according to SOP for proper routing of traffic through the district.

  • Maintains, places, and operates the center's Portable-Changeable Message Signs (PCMS).

  • Operates or monitors other Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) as installed by the OCCC for the purposes of traffic management.

  • Coordinates with other Orange County agencies such as Traffic Engineering and the Sheriff's office as directed.

Attendee Transport Coordinator

  • Manages all OCCC shuttle service operations. Identifies and implements adjustments to shuttle operations as needed.

  • Oversees driver check-in and assigns routes and schedules to drivers. Performs verification that shuttle equipment has been received and functioning as ordered.

  • Completes daily shuttle logs and verifies vendor performance for proper invoicing.

  • Oversees the center's vehicle-for-hire permitting program.

  • Tracks and reports various data streams regarding attendee transport such as shuttle passenger counts and taxi ridership among others.

  • Oversees daily staff assigned to shuttle and taxi operations consisting of route dispatchers, bus loaders, taxi concierge, and taxi support.

  • Assists in the management of the Courtesy Cart program.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate Degree from an accredited institution and two years of traffic, transportation and/or shuttle experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Must possess and maintain a State Florida Drivers License.

Complete the Orange County Defensive Driving course within six months of hire.

Must be able to operate county vehicles and golf carts.

Preferences

  • Four years of traffic, transportation and/or shuttle experience

  • Experience leading moderate to large shuttle operations for major venues such as stadiums, convention centers, or other major events/campuses.

  • FDOT Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic Certification (or equivalent).
