County Administration is seeking candidates to fill three Event Technology Analyst II positions on the BIO IT team. This team provides customer service to county leadership, the County Board, elected officials and staff by answering questions, addressing problems, and providing technical guidance. These positions will provide technical support for broadcast and conference room systems (hardware and software) for broadcasting public meetings and county events.

Location and hours:

These positions are hybrid and will be performed on-site at the Hennepin County Government Center at 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487, the 625 building at 625 4th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55415, at other Hennepin County buildings, various locations for community events, and remote as job duties require. Typical work hours will be Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Candidates must be available for occasional after hours and weekend hours required to manage technology systems at events. On call hours will also be required for specific time periods, scheduled in advance. While these positions are designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

At this time, employees may be eligible to receive an additional cash merit of up to $1,906.94 that can be earned annually based on performance.

In these positions, you will:

  • Assist supervisor with research on county's audio and video equipment needs; operate, test and evaluate proposed equipment when needed.

  • Develop and document technical specifications that support development, testing and deployment of new technologies and applications.

  • Configure and install audio/visual systems, including integrating microphones, video screens, video monitors, sound systems, recording systems, and computers, ensuring connectivity and optimal performance for events and functions such as meetings and presentations.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with media systems.

  • Conduct quality control analysis during performances and make necessary adjustments to technology.

  • Provide public meeting support including troubleshooting and resetting passwords, editing video, correcting timestamps, and collaborating with technical support.

  • Support adoption of new tools and processes as they are implemented.

  • Develop, implement and interpret information technology policies, procedures and practices related to information systems.

  • Provide support to other departments supported by the BIO IT team.

Need to have:

  • One of the following:

  • Five years or more of IT experience.

  • Completion of an approved IT Hennepin County internship and three years or more of IT experience.

  • Associate/vocational/technical degree in computer science, management information systems (MIS), information technology or an approved information technology field related to the position and three years or more of IT experience.

  • Completion of five college/vocational technical technology courses and three years or more of IT experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in an IT field and one year or more of IT experience.

In order to manage broadcast and conference room systems, and technology at community events, the ability to:

  • Work afterhours and weekends with sufficient notice for special events as required.

  • Perform on-call duties when required and with sufficient notice.

Nice to have:

  • Experience providing technical support including equipment set up for high-level/senior leadership meetings and/or events.

  • Experience with:

  • Modern audio/visual equipment, including production of live broadcasts.

  • Power Platform.

  • Microsoft 365 applications and platforms and expertise in Teams, SharePoint, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Dataverse.

Ability to coordinate appropriate technology for multiple meetings and organize work to meet deadlines and conflicting priorities.Effective communication and customer service skills.
