audio/visual equipment and systems.
Position Summary
This individual is responsible for managing the Department of Event Services at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel. This department oversees the use, setup, operation, and maintenance of technology-enhanced multi-functional conference rooms, boardrooms, auditoriums, exhibit space, and banquet areas for operations occuring 7 days a week, 16 hours a day.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Managerial experience overseeing and conducting administrative reporting functions preferred.
Experience using Microsoft Office and diagramming software.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals and financial reports; ability to communicate effectively and adeptly with co-workers, senior management, clients, and the general public; ability to write complex documents in prescribed formats and present complex information, ideas, and beliefs to senior management.
Ability to develop ideas that will result in the creation of new and improved methods, services, programs, and processes.
Physical Demands
Lift and move heavy items (50+lbs) for many repetitions, and over an 8 hr. work shift.

Manage the operational, technical, and financial functions of the Event Services Department:
Oversee the design, setup, and cleaning of all banquet areas, meeting and exhibit spaces so they are prepared accurately and are operationally ready for the scheduled events, conferences and/or exhibits.
Assure that the physical setup properly reflects the designed layout.
Work closely with the Food & Beverage Banquet and Catering Manager(s) and Supervisors to ensure the timely set up and tear down of tables, chairs, risers, stages and other set up configurations as required by the client(s).
Assist sales staff and event coordinators in design of custom setups for all events, confirming that all layout designs are within the physical limits of the Georgia Center.
Oversee the research, purchase, and maintenance of current inventory of technical audio/visual equipment to meet client presentation needs.
Provide technical consultation, support, and supervision to the staff of technicians and specialists who provide technical assistance to internal and external clients of the GC.
Develop, manage, and evaluate the departmental budget to analyze yearly expenditures and provide for personnel, supplies and materials, repairs and maintenance, travel, and operating expenses as needed.
Ensure that the department stays within the operating budget.
Ensure that the department is fully staffed, trained and operational during all specified hours of operation occurring 7 days a week, 16 hours a day.
Train all staff (including student workers) appropriately for their daily duties.
Percentage of time 60 Duties/Responsibilities
Assist other GC Units to support Georgia Center strategic initiatives, events, and organizational priorities:
Function as member of the Sales and Event Management leadership team to review business opportunities and support divisional goals.
Represent the department in other meetings and special projects as needed.
Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities
Manage the staff, customer service, and administrative functions of the Event Services department.
Conduct staff actions: interview, schedule, terminate, and make salary decisions to provide an adequate and qualified workforce for all events.
Conduct yearly staff evaluations.
Prepare all daily, weekly, monthly preparational materials for the team including setup documents, diagrams, working schedules, etc.

Inform senior management on all matters pertaining to the physical logistics, support and audio/visual services provided to Georgia Center's internal and external clients.
Oversee the production of event information to facilitate daily operations.
