Overview

The Event Staff Security position is responsible for ensuring that the arena is a safe and welcoming environment for all patrons, employees and tenants at the Ford Wyoming Center. Security staff will be responsible for access to the arena, ensuring guest enter safely and for the security inside of the arena, by limiting access to restricted areas as well as deescalating volatile situations. The Event Security team is a vital component of the arena in assuring safety and a positive guest service experience - a positive attitude and a positive appearance are essential.

This role will pay an hourly wage of $14.00 to $16.00.

About the Venue

ormerly the Casper Events Center, the venue was renamed to the Ford Wyoming Center in January 2021. The Center is a 28,000 square foot multi-purpose facility, built high on a hill overlooking the city of Casper, Casper Mountain, and the scenic Platte River Valley. Funded entirely by the City's portion of an optional 1% sales tax, the venue opened on April 17, 1982. The arena features a horseshoe-shaped seating bowl with 8,000 seats.

The Ford Wyoming Center hosts a variety of different events each year, including concerts, sporting events, family shows, trade shows, competitions, religious services, bull riding competitions, commencement ceremonies, lectures, and political rallies among other corporate and community events. The arena is host to the Wyoming High School Basketball, Volleyball, and Wrestling Tournaments, the Wyoming High School Art Symposium, Wyoming High School Marching Band Competition and Wyoming High School Spirit and Cheer Competition. The venue has been home of the College National Finals Rodeo each June since 2001.

The Ford Wyoming Center is owned by the City of Casper, Wyoming and is proudly managed by Oak View Group.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold security directives, most importantly our mission to take reasonable steps to protect the safety and security of our venues' guests, employees, and assets with respect towards everyone's dignity and legal rights.

  • Efficiently screen guests in the form of metal detecting via wands and bag checking

  • Verifies credentials to ensure control of access into restricted areas

  • Works cooperatively with all venue staff and local police

  • Interacts with guests in a polite and professional manner, while providing accurate event and venue information

  • Consistently and continually enforces facility policies & procedures related to prohibited items, disruptive behavior, etc.

  • Be knowledgeable about arena emergency evacuation plan in order to safely assist guests during the unlikely event of an emergency.

  • Performs other duties as required to the satisfaction of Supervisors and Management

Qualifications

  • Experience in a hospitality or entertainment environment is preferred

  • You must love working with and helping people.

  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.

  • You must be able to maintain a POSITIVE attitude while handling difficult situations.

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including extended hours, nights, weekends and holidays as required for specific shift requirements.

  • Ability to listen effectively, take and execute directions, as given

  • General neat and presentable appearance.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgement to diffuse volatile situations

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Ability to traverse a variety of terrain and floor surfaces including stairs, carpet, concrete
