Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience working in an event venue environment, event management/event planning or a related field plus supervisory/management experience.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, customer service and relationship building skills.
General knowledge of best practices in conference and event coordination.
Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing.
This position requires the ability to work nights and weekends.
Desired Qualifications
Demonstrated expertise in event management, supervision, budget management, catering, and training.
Experience working independently and as part of a team.
Good troubleshooting and problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to work in stressful situations requiring immediate attention.
Demonstrated experience and ability to manage several issues at once.
Ability to make sound decisions and have good judgement.
Strong experience working with internal and external groups/clients.

Position Details Position Purpose
The Event Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day conferences and events in the Oakland Center, in coordination with the Associate Director. This position meets with conference and event planners, arranges event details including logistical support and service coordination, and is able to plan an event from beginning to end.
