EVENT MANAGER, Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE), to create, develop, and execute strategies for effective event content and delivery of high-profile events (25-30 per academic year on average). Will lead all on- and off-campus events (e.g., lectures, reunions, retreats, graduations, conferences, workshops, parties, seminars, etc.) that reach wide and varied audiences within and beyond MIT. Responsibilities include leading the planning and execution of events; participating on cross-functional project teams and proactively engaging in continuous improvement of program operations; serving as technical and logistical resource for events and primary point of contact for speakers/participants; liaising with stakeholders and ensuring customer satisfaction; nurturing and building relationships with vendors, venues, and other industry contacts; managing events budgets, expenses, and reimbursements; working with the MIT Events Office to register events and ensure guidelines are followed; keeping up with recurring event invitation lists and updates, working with relevant colleagues to create invite lists; working with DMSE communications officer to convey publicity plan and prepare marketing and event collateral; evaluating, recommending, and implementing operational changes and enhancements for future programs; assuring timely publishing and distribution of event information/materials; and remaining current with event planning trends.
