Job Summary:

The Experiential Event Manager is responsible for identifying and generating engaging events in the District Detroit to drive visitors/guests to the area and generate excitement while ensuring the events meet the overall business strategies and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategy for event procurement and provide a balanced approach to programming in the Via, Chevy Plaza, Columbia Street, etc. based on company goals and objectives.

  • Generate engaging events and onsite activation to drive traffic, create excitement and evolve the District Detroit brand.

  • Plan, coordinate and manage District Detroit events including communication and negotiations with event participants, tenant integration, developing contracts, facilitating event implementation and on-site supervision of events.

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of industry decision makers across all levels and types of entertainment.

  • Interface and coordinate with Corporate Partnership regarding sponsorship opportunities and fulfillment requirements.

  • Coordinate and cooperate with District Detroit tenants to market and execute events collaboratively.

  • Interface with event production and other applicable departments to ensure proper coordination and execution of all event related activities.

  • Work with the marketing team to creatively promote events

  • Create opportunities for other revenue producing departments to maximize dollars with respect to events.

  • Oversee the preparation of event settlements; conduct event settlements.

  • Review and gain approval for contract and rider details.

  • Create facility maps utilizing AutoCAD to assist in building events in the ticketing system, as needed.

  • Manage and communicate the event calendar for the District Detroit.

  • Measure and analyze event attendance against slated goals.

  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends.

  • This position does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of sustained record of success in talent buying and event booking and planning.

  • Proven results in defining and executing social and digital media campaigns as well as delivering out-of-the-box ideas to position a brand for success.

  • Possess the highest integrity and ethical standards.

  • Possess superior negotiation skills coupled with a net profit bottom line mentality.

  • Consistent ability to think strategically and develop and book programs that address business objectives.

  • Superior knowledge regarding the practices and principles related to booking events.

  • Outstanding ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with promoters.

  • Contract experience related to events, riders and balancing sponsorship requirements.

  • Highly creative and innovative.

  • Self-starter, ability to work under minimal supervision.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong judgment skills and problem resolution ability.

  • Must possess a positive/can-do attitude and be able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment and have flexibility.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Event booking for a multi-use properties.

Working Conditions:

  • Irregular and extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Exposure to moderate - high noise level.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

  • Frequent visual/auditory attention.

What You'll Do/Need The Event Manager plans and executes special events, meetings, incentive travel, parties, awards shows, charity functions and more for the Rock Family of Companies. This team member ties threads in the Family of Companies and supports Detroit initiatives. The goal is a world-class event every time.
