Events Manager – Atlanta Magazine This position performs several key functions in support of the local and national Advertising Sales Team, with the key focus of executing successful events that are profitable and help increase overall revenue (through ticket sales and sponsorships) to the magazine’s overall business. It’s important to think of this position as an extension of the sales team in that the primary goal of events is to drive sales and revenue growth while extending the magazine’s brand into the community and increasing engagement with our audience.

While closely aligned with the sales team, this position will work across departments and cooperate/coordinate with marketing, digital, editorial and custom publishing/ancillary titles. Overview of responsibilities: This position reports to the President & Publisher.

Works in collaboration with the Marketing Manager to support magazine events through sales, marketing collateral, promotion and PR. Creates and manages the event budgets, timelines and action items plans and execution of those plans for all events. Identifies creative activation opportunities for sponsors.

Identifies and manages all vendors related to the magazine’s events. Responsible for managing the logistics for all events – permitting, applications, communications with all event stakeholders – venues, city authorities, vendors, etc. Responsible for outreach and securing of restaurant partners for any/all of our food related events.

Support the sales team and assist in providing input on sponsor decks/presentations and proposals for new business development efforts with strategic thinking and ideas for how sponsors can activate at our events. Working in tandem with the Marketing Manager, help to identify sponsor prospects and support the sales team with ideas, leads and prospecting. Where appropriate, do direct outreach to sponsor prospects.

Pro-actively and continually identifies new venues and new vendors through meetings, prospecting and networking. Manage the event logs/budgets for each event and work closely with the business office/accounting to reconcile budget and expenses on all events in a timely and detailed manner. Work closely with local and national sales team members on key client proposals related to event sponsorships.

Take the lead when the magazine is partnering with an outside event and has some form of presence at the event. Help manage the logistics associated with these events. An example would be when the magazine is a media sponsor of an event and is invited to activate in some way.

Delivers events on time, within budget, that exceed sponsor and attendee expectations. Provides event leadership, motivation, direction and support to sales team. Works with sponsorship clients throughout event lifecycles.
