Job Overview

The Event Coordinator plans and executes various mid- and high-level events in support of the Law Center's mission, and provides assistance to other staff members in the OEM for larger, more complex events happening both on campus and at locations off site. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Create and manage event budgets, produce timelines, and work with the event sponsor on all aspects of the program.

  • Plan and execute virtual and hybrid events as needed, as well as events taking place in the 9th floor convening space at 500 First Street, NW.

  • Support an array of events including conferences, symposia, faculty retreats, orientation, reunion and a wide variety of receptions, dinners and special events

  • Serve as a liaison to the Dean's office, VIPs, alumni, faculty, students and staff

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

Reporting directly to the Director, Office of Event Management & Scheduling, the Event Coordinator supports other members of the events team as needed under the direction of the Director.

They have an integral role in the overall operations of special events, working independently on numerous events and supporting other team members as needed on a myriad of other large scale events.

This position has been designated as Hybrid. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University. Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree - preference for degree in marketing, public relations, communications or a related field

  • At least 2 to 3 years of experience [note: consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and work experience] - preference for familiarity with working in an academic or non-profit environment

  • Analytical judgment, competent decision-making skills, and the ability to prioritize competing demands in an office that plans hundreds of events during the year

  • A high degree of autonomy and initiative, and the ability to work without close supervision

  • Ability interface with the public and maintain highly confidential information with professional discretion

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) - preference for familiarity with EMS, Social Tables, and Cvent
