Event Coordinator

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

• Previous experience in managing the logistics of high-level special events from start to finish including but not limited to, menu and beverage selection, decor, contracting and bid-process, and complete venue logistics planning.

• Ability to apply knowledge of the rules of etiquette and social protocol.

• Experience working with and for top-level executives and high ranking officials.

• Experience working in a higher education environment.

• Excellent organizational and analytical skills.

• Must be very detail oriented.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work in both a team environment and individually.

• Ability to communicate effectively with others.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience in managing academic events such as commencement, convocation or conferences.

Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may be considered.

Position Details Position Purpose

The Events Coordinator will plan, manage and execute high level events for Academic Affairs and with the College and the Schools that are designed to advance campus and academic priorities, including University Commencement, convocation, and conferences. This role will will work on project expenditures with the involved units, ensure purchases are made in compliance with University policy, plan for menu, facilities, seating, and technology needs, and provide event attendance reports and follow-up as needed. This role will require the ability to work extended hours; including early morning, evenings and occasional weekends.
