SUMMARY:
The Event Attendant works with the Event Assistant and Events office staff to execute events in the chapel, columbarium, and other event spaces around camps. The Event Attendant also works with the Conferences & Support Services team to execute assigned events as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supporting the direction of the Event Assistant:
Chapel Coordination
Ensures each event is conducted within University policies to meet contract conditions and within the allotted time.
Responsible for the security of the spaces and management of building keys.
Meets with clients or their event planner to review the event's details, logistics, and timing. Identifies areas accessible to the chapel attendees.
Generally, oversees the good working order of the event space.
Directs service providers to designated areas; assists as needed.
Responds and troubleshoots to incidents associated with events or spaces.
Event Support
Maintains relationships with attendees and resolves or manages the resolution of problems or issues as they arise.
Fosters positive relationships and works cooperatively with committees and advisory groups associated with assigned events. Serves as the department's representative and supports all university policies and procedures.
Assists in the execution of assigned events and other responsibilities as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent communication skills. High level of integrity, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality and professional composure.
High level of organizational skills and ability to balance various tasks with high competency and accuracy.
Ability to work cooperatively as a part of a team.
Ability to adapt quickly and efficiently with tact and diplomacy.
Skilled in providing timely, courteous, and efficient customer service.
Ability to learn and administer safety procedures.
Working knowledge of wedding etiquette and protocols
Proficient computer skills and ability to learn new computer software programs.
Must possess a valid Virginia Driver's License and meet University driving requirements.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree or higher preferred.
1-2 years experience in event planning preferred.
Wedding planning/event certification preferred.
WORK HOURS:
Part-time, non-exempt, temporary position
This position will work as needed; less than 1,000 hrs./year; must be flexible to work evenings and weekends
Hiring Range: $15.00 to $17.29 per hour
