Good Samaritan Society Sioux Falls Village is a licensed not-for-profit continuing care retirement community offering exceptional personal and skilled nursing care. Sioux Falls Village houses a 17-bed wing dedicated to the special needs of those with Alzheimer's or dementia related diseases and a 21-bed wing for post-acute Rehab in addition to 139 long term care beds. Pay Ranges

  • LPN: $19.00-$20.68 DOE, RN: $23.35-$25.43, DOE (includes $1.00 night/evening differential)

Evenings/Nights, Full-time and Part-time positions.

What you'll do: For residents, you'll promote a positive living experience by maintaining privacy and meeting medical requirements as determined by their physician, as well as observing and documenting resident care each day.

You'll help administer medication, maintain appropriate health records and assist with resident care plans. You'll also work with families and leadership to understand daily care and medication needs.

Your role also will include direct resident care at times, helping residents with all necessary personal care. You'll help as needed with transferring, repositioning and walking using correct and appropriate techniques and equipment.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Prior work experience in like or related position preferred.

Maintains required certification / qualifications and associated standards. Licensure for state of practice is required.

Knowledge of basic nursing skills; knowledge and familiarity with the therapeutic effects and side effects of all medications administered.

Join our team in a beautiful facility with a home-like atmosphere, including a pool and fitness center that are available to staff. Must currently have a valid South Dakota Certified Medication Assistant (CMA) license (or equivalent) to be eligible for this position. Examples of duties performed in this position include, but are not limited to: 1) dispensing oral medication and providing treatments under the direction of a licensed nurse; 2) performing routine nursing care duties such as taking temperature and blood pressure; 3) assisting residents with personal care to include bathing, shaving, dressing, toileting, and related hygiene; 4) assisting residents with activities, events and outings; 5) observing residents for choking, seizures, fluid output, temperature change or skin irritations; 6) distributing meal trays and assisting residents in eating/drinking; 7) documenting activities of daily living (e.g. food/liquid intake, behavior changes, injuries) and related medication records; and 8) performing housekeeping tasks such as replacing linens on beds and cleaning resident rooms. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: * CPR (preferred but not required); * Medication storage in a residential setting; * basic medical documentation/recordkeeping, including but not limited to missed medications, errors and when medication is accidentally dropped Skill to: * measure and comprehend certain quantities; * observe and document response to medications; * operate a computer; and * read, write, speak, and understand the English language to communicate with all residents. Ability to: * display high standards of ethical conduct; * treat others courteously and is responsive to their needs; * work cooperatively with others and promote a friendly work climate in order to achieve shared goals; * listen attentively to others and clearly convey information and ideas (both verbally and in writing); * attends to all details of assignments and complete work properly, accurately, and thoroughly; * exercise sound judgment when making decisions and take prompt, decisive action; and * set priorities, schedule activities, acquire resources, and monitor progress to ensure the successful completion of projects and assignments.
