  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Three (3) years of practical experience as a licensed journeyman plumber, demonstrating expertise in various plumbing techniques and applications for residential and commercial aspects of the plumbing trade. Demonstrated experience including blueprints, codes, piping standards, materials, safety, and maintenance/repair of plumbing systems.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex plumbing concepts effectively.

Preferred Education/Training/Experience

  • Associate's degree in Plumbing and five (5) years of work experience in the area of assigned instruction.

  • Previous teaching or training experience, particularly in higher education settings, is highly desirable.

  • OSHA 10 Outreach Authorized Instructor credential

Minimum Knowledge & Skills

  • Basic computer skills

  • Theory and practice of the various aspects of plumbing subject areas.

  • Safety protocols.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of online delivery methods, principles, and techniques.

  • Update course curriculum in line with industry standards and advancements.

  • Skills and Knowledge in instructing safety protocols via OSHA 10 Outreach Authorized Instructor credential.

  • Ability to foster partnerships with local plumbing businesses and organizations to facilitate industry exposure.

Job Duties

  • Instruct students on safety protocols, including the proper use of tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) in plumbing. Educate students about local, state, and national plumbing codes and regulations, ensuring compliance in all training activities.

  • Deliver lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on training sessions in various aspects of plumbing, codes, and blueprint reading, pipefitting, system design, and repair techniques. Provides students with real-world examples and case studies to illustrate plumbing concepts and applications.

  • Supervise and assist students during practical training sessions in plumbing labs or workshops. Demonstrate proper techniques for installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems and fixtures.

  • Update course curriculum in line with industry standards and advancements.

  • Provide assessments to enhance student learning.

  • Participates in new adjunct instructor training and other academic quality initiatives.

  • Maintain classroom equipment through evaluation, inspection, parts ordering, and repair.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Licensing/Certification Requirements

Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, Journeyman.

Physical Requirements

Positions in this class typically require stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
