ETSB STAFF - This is a management level position, managing the technical infrastructure of the Peoria Stark Emergency Telephone System board (JETSB). The position oversees the radio systems, microwave system, telephone systems, recording systems, networks, equipment at radio sites, and in the Emergency Communications Centers (ECC). The position also includes project management.
Associate degree preferred. 5 to 10 years' experience required in electronics repair field. An equivalent amount of experience will be considered in lieu of education. Extensive experience with public safety two-way radio conventional and trunked (P-25) communication systems. Understand DC power systems. Be able to manage P-25 subscribers on the public safety radio system. Good working knowledge of telephone systems concepts including those types of phone systems inside or connected to ECC customer premise equipment (CPE).
Good working knowledge of computers, networks, firewalls, MPLS backhauls, including hardware and software used in current applications. Ensure critical backups are performed on all systems. Ensure necessary patches are performed on software. Good working knowledge of public safety recording systems. Good working understanding of microwave and fiber optic systems, including switches and firewalls. Understand Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requirements. Good working knowledge of the interpretation of electrical drawings and schematics. This position must be able to exercise independent judgment and its application to a variety of situations as this position performs highly complex and varied tasks requiring independent knowledge. Have excellent problem-solving skill. The position requires verbal and written skills to communicate technical information in a concise format. Ability to analyze and diagnose problems with multiple variables and present solutions to the problem. Ability to comprehend geographical locations/relationships. Ability to work well with people and be a team player; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees as well as others that the incumbent is in contact with. Ability to perform tasks without direct daily supervision. Be responsive to phone calls, text messages and emails. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
