The Moraga School District is looking for a Psychologist to serve one elementary school. Moraga is a small quiet community in the San Francisco Bay Area (East Bay). Our district encourages opportunities for parental involvement and an exceptional climate for learning. We are looking for a qualified Psychologist with a valid California Pupil Personnel Services Credential to provide psychological evaluation and counseling for individuals and assist school staff in planning and implementing school guidance procedures.

DEFINITION

Under the direction of a Principal or Director of Pupil Services provides psychological evaluation and counseling for individuals and assists school staff in planning and implementing school guidance procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administer, evaluate and interpret psychological tests upon the request of the school administrator through the referral system. Make recommendations based on assessments conducted. Write reports on pupils evaluated.

Observe students in the classroom and on the playground, and share these observations with teachers and other professional staff.

Consult with principals, resource specialists, speech and language specialists, health consultants, counselors, teachers and district office personnel.

Interpret test or observational findings to parents as requested, regarding pupil's potential, achievement level and personality adjustment, and recommend to parents ways of helping pupils, or suggest sources from which they may seek further assistance.

Counsel individual pupils regarding test findings, academic problems, and social or emotional problems as requested by the school administrator.

Conduct groups of students in skills of goal setting, problem solving, conflict resolution, successful peer relationships and communication.

Provide social skills instruction to a class or group of students.

Develop Behavior Support Plans or assist teacher to develop a behavior management system for the classroom.

Train Instructional Assistants to work with students on the Autistic Spectrum.

Participate in school faculty meetings or inservice activities as requested by the school or district administration.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful experience working with Elementary School Students

Knowledge of and experience in working with students on the Autistic spectrum.

Knowledge of and experience with principles of behavior management

A valid California Pupil Personnel Services credential with a Specialization in School Psychology.
