ESY Paraprofessional 2024

The ESY Paraprofessionals of Foundation Academy Charter School plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop the necessary academic knowledge and skills to prepare them for the nation's finest colleges.

We are looking for ESY Paraprofessionals to join our team.

Reports to: ESY Coordinator

Here's what you'll be doing:

• Assist in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, following guidance from teachers and ESY coordinator.

• Provide academic support to students, including but not limited to reinforcement of lessons, assistance with assignments, and facilitating small group activities.

• Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and respected.

• Assist students with disabilities in navigating the physical environment of the school, including transitions between classrooms, lunchtime, and outdoor activities.

• Collaborate with classroom teachers and other staff members to address the individual needs of students and ensure consistency in support strategies.

• Monitor student behavior and intervene as needed to address conflicts, redirect behavior, and ensure a safe and positive learning environment.

• Document student progress and behavior observations as required, in accordance with school policies and procedures.

• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to supporting students with special needs.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with students with disabilities or in a similar educational setting preferred.

• Understanding of and commitment to the principles of inclusive education and the rights of students with disabilities.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support the academic and social-emotional growth of students.

• Ability to follow directions and implement instructional strategies provided by special education staff.

• Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the changing needs of students and the school environment.

• Completion of any required background checks and certifications as mandated by state or local regulations.

• Start date: 7/8/24

• End date: 8/1/24

• Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-2pm

• Salary: $30 per hour

• Location: Trenton, NJ
