Estimator - Spanish Fork

Overview

JOB TITLE:  ESTIMATOR

FUNCTION:  Prepare thorough and timely estimates for grading, paving, excavating, underground utilities, including the preparation of bid documents, written proposals and correspondence.

KEY ACTIVITIES:

• Visualize, define, plan, communicate, and implement the company vision and core values.

• Maintain, develop and build strong relationships with vendors, owners and agency representatives.

• Successfully prepare bids, negotiate contracts and win large commercial excavation projects.

• Effectively oversee writing of proposals, bidding correspondence, budgets, project resource needs.

• Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price list, etc.

• Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope, risk and resource needs.

• Prepare detailed estimates by calculating complete scope of work and materials.

• Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering, quality, or availability of materials.

• Review, understand, and adhere to all company policy and procedures.

• Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental requirements.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Negotiation with owners, and business development.

• Competency in bidding, scheduling, take off, accounting, and construction administration.

• Familiarity with construction processes and documents.

• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

• Exceptional interpersonal, problem solving, and technical skills.

• Strategic thinking skills.

• Excellent customer service skills.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• 4 year Construction Management/Engineering degree, or equivalent combination of technical training and or experience.

• Experience with the following software is beneficial HCSS, Viewpoint, P-6, Trimble Business Center, or Agtek.

• 2-5 years of experience in the field.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Physical Work Requirements - Medium/heavy: exerting up to 50 lbs of force regularly.

• Repetitive motion associated with operating equipment.

• Regular exposure to the elements.

• Frequent bending, standing, lifting, and ongoing physical activity.
