Job Summary

Trane has an opportunity to join our team as a National Accounts Estimator. Our Estimators work closely with National Account Managers, Bid Coordinators, Project Managers, sub-contractors, and material suppliers to ensure timely completion of a detailed cost estimate. Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for reviewing Plans & Specifications and developing cost estimates, ensuring accuracy of quantity, size, configuration, voltage, options, etc. of Trane materials, sub-contractors, non-Trane purchased equipment, labor (start-up, service work, etc.), and other construction-related activities to assist Account Managers in bidding projects.

  • Gathers and validates preliminary information and performs facility walk through, construction plan review or other requirements.

  • Assists documenting National Account equipment standards and supports onboarding new equipment programs to achieve an efficient, repeatable estimating process.

  • Determines project needs, constraints, and responsibilities to meet all of the customer's HVAC system design and installation requirements.

  • Assists Account Manager with determining the need for outsourced engineering involvement.

  • Creates detailed cost estimate based on detailed scope

  • Responsible for holding job pre-bid meeting with Account Managers to review scope, strategy, etc.

  • Documents work by maintaining files for each job.

  • Develops the scope of work for sub-contractors.

  • Optimizes job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/sub-contractors through quotations for materials/services.

  • Creates detailed proposals including scope definition, exceptions/exclusions, vendor/sub-contractor quotes, etc.

  • Work with AM & PM to prepare submittal in order to transition job from AM to fulfillment team.

  • Generates Equipment Submittals and validating equipment selections before order entry.

  • Assists with training and support for team members as a technical resource for Trane equipment and controls.

  • Maintains competitive advantage by staying current with company products and estimating tools.

  • Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required.

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical, Electrical or Construction Management degree or equivalent experience required

Key Competencies:

  • Proven project management track record, service and contracting experience required.

  • Experience driving coordination and collaboration of cross-functional teams preferred.

  • Vendor and/or subcontractor negotiation experience preferred.

  • Ability to develop concise and professional customer proposals.

  • Proficient skill level in Windows and Microsoft Office.

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Key Areas of Responsibility * Owning top-line metrics (e.g., revenue, sales) across new and existing Large Corporates customers * Developing the sales and retention strategies for the segment and executing them to achieve or exceed the company growth and revenue targets. * Providing thought leadership; setting strategic direction and priorities for the segment, developing compelling propositions and informing investment decisions * Managing high-level programming and resources including effective management of sales force * Ensures appropriate level of resource attention from supporting functions and coordinates their involvement with the operations of the Large sub-segment Accountabilities * Manages regional sales leads and their teams, as well as the functions of solutions consulting, client retention, and proposition. * Develops and implements strategic sales plans, directs forecasting activities, reviews opportunity pipeline and sets appropriate metrics for sales activity management * Strengthens relationships with current customers by engaging with customers directly and ensuring dedicated (e.g., in-person) support, offering ongoing services and bespoke upgrades, and planning for future needs of major corporate accounts * Meets with executives at key clients and prospects to assist with negotiating and closing large deals or resolving product issues * Partners with regional sales leads to evaluate performance of sales staff and identify staff training needs, performance issues and workforce planning * Oversees the development of the customer value proposition and market/business development activities for the sub-segment (e.g., market definition, distribution strategy, pricing and packaging, positioning, and buyer personas) * Ensures retention and expansion of revenue from current customers by collaborating with product teams to evaluate customer needs and increase cross-sell or up-sell of relevant products to current customers * Partners with the strategy team to provide input on competitive landscape and client needs * Coordinates with the digital lead and other sub-segment leaders to ensure comprehensive account coverage for customers 'on the edge' and facilitate a smooth transition for growing firms * Develops executive relationships with external partners, including accounting firms and other commercial enterprises engaged by the Parternships and Alliances team Key Deliverables * Delivery of financial and strategic OKRs for the sub-segment and for other sub-segments with overlapping products (e.g. gross sales [PY growth]) * Continuous, measurable improvement in end to end distinctive customer experience and service across channels (e.g. customer satisfaction [NPS], churn and retention) * Growth through cross-sell/up-sell, net new customer acquisitions, and product innovation (e.g. E/R ratio, client acquisition) * Refresh sales workforce supported by active talent and succession pipeline (e.g. employee satisfaction) * Annual improvements in organizational effectiveness (client-centricity , customer approach, rapid decision making) Skills and Experience * 15+ years of experience, with specifically 5-10 years' experience in direct sales and account management * Proven experience as a VP of sales or similar sales leadership role, preferably in a territory model * Proven experience in either product or proposition management, business leadership * Strong track record of recruiting, developing and retaining a high performing sales organization * Ability top drive results and consistently overachieve quota and revenue goals * Proven track record of building satisfied, loyal and referenceable customers * Excellent communication skills with the proven ability to excite and motivate sales teams * Strong operational and analytical abilities * Skilled at conflict resolution and problem-solving to achieve win-win outcomes * An outside-in focus: outstanding customer relationship skills * Preferred experience in managing a range of teams with technical, product, and customer market operation expertise * In-depth experience in customer journey (including digital customer journey, B2B digital is preferred) At Thomson Reuters, we believe what we do matters.
