Job Summary

Estimator will work directly with Customers, Account Managers, Project Managers, Sub-contractors, and Material Suppliers to ensure timely completion of assigned projects and customer satisfaction. Responsible for coordinating selections, estimates, scope of work and pricing for Controls / Building Automation Systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs construction plan review or other requirements as determined by project needs, constraints, and responsibilities to meet all of the customer's facility requirements.

  • Utilizes plans, specifications, and knowledge of controls/construction industry to analyze project needs and compiles detailed cost estimates and scopes of work.

  • Responsible for identifying possible cost saving opportunities and/or risk items that may occur on various projects.

  • Optimizes job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/sub-contractors through quotations for materials/services.

  • Develops the scope of work for sub-contractors by preparing scope definition, exceptions/ exclusions, inclusions, preliminary proposal and system riser/ sketches.

  • Receives and qualifies subcontractor proposals

  • Clarifies, reconciles, and adjusts information gaps and scope deviations with operations group.

  • Responsible for holding job pre-bid meeting to review scope, strategy, etc.

  • Documents work by maintaining files for each job.

  • Maintains competitive advantage by staying current with industry standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or related field preferred.

  • At least 3 to 5 years demonstrated Controls / Building Automation Experience preferred

  • Detailed knowledge of HVAC Systems, specifically HVAC / BAS Controls

  • Ability to do controls takeoffs

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED (The following duties are typical for this classification.
