Hours: 6 hours/day; 5 days/week; 30 hours/week

General Purpose of Job: Assist the special education teacher in the operation and function of the classroom, and to work with individual or small groups of students as directed by and under the supervision of the special education teacher.


  • Assist in the implementation of the students' special education instructional plan(s) including physical and behavioral management. Specific duties are assigned by the supervising teacher based on students' special needs.

  • Assist in the implementation and follow through of the students' individual plans in all settings in which the program is delivered and as assigned by the supervising teacher.

  • Collect observational data about assigned student(s) in various school settings and report to supervising teacher.

  • Assist in the preparation, collection and maintenance of educational materials and equipment.

  • Assist staffings, conferences and any other special meetings as requested by supervising teacher.

  • Complete educational forms, reports and other student related data relevant to the individual student(s) in the special education program as directed by the special education teacher.

  • Any other duties deemed necessary by the team and approved by the Special Education Coordinator Special Education Supervisor.


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Persons employed shall have the skills needed to perform tasks and work with children, staff and parents. Must have physical capability to lift and attend to physical needs of students as required.

  • Participation in district training program prior to and during employment.

VIEW JOBS 2/22/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-05-22T00:00 Employment Dates: June 11, 2020-August 26, 2020, with some pre-summer planning and meetings Hours: Average of 5 to 6.5 hours/day; 4-5 days/week. All morning positions end at 12:45pm and all afternoon positions start at 12:00pm (Staff hours may be slightly adjusted after the program starts based on student attendance). General Purpose of Job: Our summer program supports our mission to inspire and prepare all students with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning. Program Managers will work with all staff to build a fun, safe and enriching experience for students in K-5th grades. Position is a blended 75% Class I and 25% Class II ESP position. Responsibilities: * Work with and support all students in the programs * Follow all District, program and building health and safety procedures. * Maintain confidentiality and privacy of children and families. * Ensure that vulnerable students are adequately supervised which may include extra support. * Operate adaptive equipment (i.e., wheelchairs, augmentative communication devices, assistive technology) and ensure their safe and proper use as needed. * Assist students with self-care tasks (i.e., feeding, dressing, toileting). Lifting, moving and transitioning may be necessary for repositioning and/or functional tasks as needed. Under the direction of a licenses school nurse or registered nurse, perform basic medical procedures to include, but not limited to, tube feedings, seizure recognition and precautions, etc. * Implement and participate in Kidstop program that meets the social, emotional, intellectual and physical needs of children. * In cooperation with Program Managers, Lead Instructors and site-based staff, maintain the continual well-being of the children and youth in the programs. * Support a variety of enriching activities that promote the social, emotional, intellectual and physical needs and ages of the children * Engage with all students in activities; lead small group activities. * Intentionally promote health, positive sense of self and wellness in program content. * Be a positive role model and leader to staff and students. * Carry out the mission, philosophy, policies and procedures of Kidstop and District 279. * Communicate verbally and in writing accidents or incidents concerning children or staff in conjunction with the site and program leaders. Observing, collecting, documenting and reporting data as directed through an IEP if applicable. Communicate with appropriate personnel as dictated by Federal Education Reporting Practices Act (FERPA) and District and program policies. * Greet families and children. Help families with sin in/sign out procedures * Attend staff meetings, in-service workshops, and program-sponsored events. * Perform additional site duties as assigned. Qualifications: * Must be at least 16 years of age. * Experience working with children is preferred. Child development knowledge is a plus * Commitment to the Mission of District 279 * Ability to assist in implementing educational activities for children and youth, including content areas of health/fitness, science, social skill building, literacy, science, music, art * Ability to assist in implementing program-wide initiatives including service learning, health and fitness * Skills that include organization, confidence, patience, understanding, teamwork and communication. * Current First Aid and CPR certification Job Type: Part-time, summer Bargaining Unit: Educational Support Professionals Salary Range: Per Contract; with one-time class differential paid out in the fall between Class I and Class II hours worked over the summer session.
