ESL Teacher

Duties

• Teach English language skills to non-native speakers, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

• Assists with oversight and administration of ACCESS and EL Screener testing for all English Learners

• Develop and implement a screening/assessment process using the WIDA screener. This would be done across schools/grade levels and takes a big chunk of time in Jan/Feb.

• Assess student progress through regular quizzes, tests, and assignments.

• Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the curriculum and meet the needs of individual students.

• Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and parents to adapt classwork and support student learning and development.

• Help coach the teachers on what is the student able or unable to do within the classroom.

• Staff Development in the area of ESL

• Collaborates with administration to develop and carry out a plan to provide professional development for staff

• Provides professional development for staff

• Builds capacity among staff in the effective implementation of research-based/evidence-based instructional practices

• Create a positive learning environment that promotes active participation within the general education classroom.

• Communicate regularly with parents to keep them informed about their child's progress and provide guidance on how they can support their child's learning.

• Establishes and maintains two-way communication with both internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will hold certification in ESL, be a strong member of a team, the ability to hold students to high standards, and be fluent in Spanish.

Salary/Benefits
