ESL TEACHER

Goal: ESL Teachers instruct students whose first language is not English. The goal is for the ESL Teacher to teach/instruct English language learners to read, speak, listen, and write English, so they can achieve grade level proficiency in all academic areas. The ESL Teacher must be highly knowledgeable in the content and structure of the English language as well as the methodology for teaching English to non-native speakers.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborate with general education teachers to support English Language Learners (ELLs) in the classroom.

• Scaffold and modify curriculum materials to meet the linguistic needs of ELL students.

• Provide targeted language instruction and support in small group settings to enhance language acquisition.

• Develop and implement individualized learning plans for students at various proficiency levels.

• Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional strategies to promote language development.

• Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive classroom atmosphere for all students.

Qualifications:

• State certification

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Experience working with English Language Learners is preferred.
