POSITION OVERVIEW
In collaboration with the Director of ESL and Bilingual Education, this position is responsible for supporting the district's English Learner program initiatives at Holyoke High School North. This position coaches teachers, models lessons, co-teaches, collaboratively plans, provides feedback to teachers, conducts professional development, collaborates with administrators, as well as provides guidance and expertise in the best practices for successful language acquisition, specifically in the four language domain areas of reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
Support teachers, through coaching cycles, to plan instruction that meets the individual needs of students.
Observe, provide feedback, co-plan, co-teach, and provide resources to support teachers in planning a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the students' individual needs, interests, and abilities and employs a variety of instructional techniques and media.
Model effective teaching practices in the classroom for staff to observe and learn from
Plan and deliver professional development around strategies and supports specific to your content area or to school-wide instructional foci.
Support others in integrating relevant strategies for English learners into professional learning and coaching work.
Effectively collaborate with school-based administrators, department heads, school Building EL Leaders (BELLs)
Support evaluators and leadership team in understanding, supporting and providing teachers with feedback on instructional strategies for your content area.
Coordinate with teachers and teacher leaders (e.g., BELLS) to ensure appropriate delivery of services to all students in the dept across PK-8 schools.
Coordinate, administer, and support assessment, data analysis, and progress monitoring for grade level/content teacher teams, working with the Testing Coordinator, Administration, and teachers.
Ensure staff have the materials and logistical information needed to meet daily expectations and school-wide goals.
Qualifications
Bilingual applicants (Spanish/English) preferred, Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree preferred
Completed at least five years of full-time K-8 relevant teaching
Commitment to culturally responsive teaching practices that support equity for all students

Experience working in an urban setting preferred
Experience working with diverse student populations preferred
Ability to read, interpret, and apply student performance data to instructional planning and execution
Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent teamwork skills
Knowledge of ESL regulations, procedures and processes, and strategies to ensure compliance and appropriate services for a range of second language learners
Experience and skill in leading adults and supporting improvements in instructional practice
